Fasting Februar challenge: Healthy eating, real life, no porn

    Since this month is the fastest (only 29 days this year) it is the best month to fast ;)

    You can customize this challenge to your favor.
    For me the challenge involves:

    • no porn
    • no pornsubs
    • no masturbation/edging
    And, apart from the second weekend of February and the 29th of February:
    • no alcohol
    • no sugar
    • no online entertainment

    This is extreme! But a partly success is also a success. The most important thing is: staying to the end.

    For motivation: it's only one month and also it's the shortest one of them ;)

    Here we come, February BAM!

    By the way, this is a challenge without reset. Try your best to achieve 100% and when you get below live with it and stay until the end. At the end of the month we should review what went good or what went wrong and it could be helpful to measure your success in percent, points or something.

    Intermittent fasting - cool, but I definitely will not do that on top. For me being hungry is to be avoided because it makes me prone to relapse (to sugar at least).

    One more idea: the challenge is hard enough, so make it as easy as possible for you and don't restrict your usual routines further, beyond the challenge. At least that's what matters for me.

    The intercalary month is approaching. I wish all participants a successful and smooth fast and a good time.

    Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan , my mind was thinking earlier today to have greasy middle eastern street food for dinner , but then i pondered at how ridicules it is that i can't go even 1 day without sugary food or fast food !!! then i realized i'm addicted to that stuff !!! so i'll just take it one day at a time !!! Thanks for the inspiring words my man !!! i used to be a Vegan before , so Veganism is something familiar to me i'm used to it , i specifically decided to go Vegan for this challenge because being Vegan has very limited junk food options !!! it's a powerful reason for me to abstain from the unhealthy addictive foods !!!

    Vegan is for sure very healthy, unless it's combined with a lot of sugar, pasta and white bread. I think living vegan for some time means you get a pretty good feeling for all the vegetable, legumes and cabbage options and how to prepare and combine them for tasty foods.

    Day 1
    ... was a strange day and still is.

    Two days ago I ran out of coffee. So this morning I didn't make coffee and to save time I didn't replace it with black tea. I didn't have breakfast and I didn't took my wallet, to prevent me from buying unhealthy food, basically. So I was into a water fast already, but later that day I ate some fruits, nuts and a little bit of tofu that somebody kindly shared with me.

    I felt a little tired but it was ok, until a serious headage set in. I assigned that to the caffeine abstinence. When I was back home I ate something and then went to bed. It was already dark when I awoke groggily. Now, siting at my desk, it's strangely quiet around me - no media consumption. After a while I got used to it and reviewing here helps me getting my thoughts in order and my urges in check.

    Coffee:
    I would like to continue abstaining from coffee too. But if I have to deal with more of these painful and crippling withdrawal symptoms I would rather buy new coffee and spare me the trouble. (I used to combine coffee and sweets by the way). But my suspicion is that I didn't drank enough water when that was my only beverage. So tomorrow I have to take care to stay hydrated. Also breakfast and a tea!

    Emotions:
    I'm dealing with a lot of real issues as well as plainly negative thinking. Abstaining and fasting means I have to stay in those uncomfortable states much longer. As a result I often feel weak, missing my unhealthy routines. Sometimes I have a positive thought on it that tells me I am strong and doing something good or such but I don't have the benefits yet.
    I have to care for myself, practice negative with positive thinking and stick to my plan with a little bit of patience (not even 24 hours into the fast!).

    Media:
    I have two self help audios on my plate (offline) that I think should be of some help. And I allow myself to listen to that at some point. Also music would be nice at some point, but not online. As for my messenger, I have to be careful not to distract me with that.

    Yeah when i was a Vegan before , i used to eat a lot of beans , hummus , fruits , salad / vegetables and different kinds of nuts / seeds . there aren't a variety of Vegan alternatives here in Cairo - Egypt where i live , but nontheless , it's possible to uphold if the reasons and drive are strong enough !!!!

    Nice, fasting February, I like it! I like the name especially because coincidentally I've been fasting myself; doing some extended water fasting for weight loss and health. Plus I love the idea of making a monthly challenge and making it more than just about avoiding porn, but also doing other healthy habits too. So I'm joining in as well!
    I get that the word "fasting" in the title is more like just a wordplay, but I would like to actually make real fasting part of this challenge for me personally. Because, like I said, I need to lose some weight. But fasting is also very healthy physically (things like autophagy, ketosis, etc), and good for healing PMO damage too (cause food is one of the biggest sources of dopamine for us, so limiting it I think can help with healing those porn desensitized dopamine receptors). So my rules are:
    • No porn.
    • Water fasting minimum 3 days a week (no calories of any kind, solid or liquid, whatsoever, for at least 24 hours). This could meant eating every other day, or it could be doing 72 hour long fast, etc.
    • Intermittent fasting during the days I do eat. My feeding window is gonna be 4 hours; from 5 PM to 9 PM.
    I already completed 1 day water fast yesterday. I am currently on my second day, about 34 hours in (not sure if I end up eating today or not, but I will wait till 5PM first). So checking in for the day 2/29!

    Nice! You seem to be doing well staying away from those things so far, keep it up! Have you tried actual fasting? Like, from food? Intermittent or otherwise? Obviously you don't have to do it now, but I would recommend trying at some point; fasting from food, especially extended water fasting, does something to the psychology that makes it easier to reboot from addictions. I've read stories of people using extended water fasting to help with quitting smoking, video games, social media, etc—I don't know what it is, but there is some psychological benefit there for quitting all kinds of mental addictions too, not just physical ones.

    Maaaaaaaaaaan i've been literllly fillin up all day on hot beverages herbs green tee and stuff like that , this Vegan diet that i'm on now is so strict !!!!!! but never the less it's totaly worth the sacrfice !!!!!! keep going ma brotha !!!

    I've heard so too, only on the forum though. That is a really important aspect to keep in mind; thanks for the inspiration.
    But as for healthy eating I think having a balanced diet comes first. Intermittent fasting might have benefits (regarding the blood sugar for example) that can compensate for parts of an unhealthy diet. I mean that I need to repair my eating habits first. Also I have to watch out for both too much body fat but also too little food. Saying that: it sounds a little strange. I could as well say, I don't to worry about my weight. I could have more muscles though and of course I still need all the nutrietients and not empty calories.

    How is your fasting going, Ūruz?
