So, it's not a venous leak?

New here and new to the idea of PIED. I'm 50 and have been watching porn for as long as I remember. Had my first experience with a girl at 19 and didn't get an erection. Was able to do the deed but again, no erection. Have always had erections with porn but needed constant stimulus to keep it. Have tried different things and can get hard but always lose it during the act. I mean always. In all of my years, I've only come to completion WHILE doing it twice. I can get myself there, but it's generally not when actually having intercourse. Again, when something like this happens, you do your research and I didn't think I had a psychological issue nor performance anxiety. Just physically didn't work right. Venous leak seemed the best bet. Here's the rub, I've awakened to and still do at my age, a rip-roaring erection. Morning wood 100 percent and doesn't go down until I urinate. Well, how can I have a physical problem if I can obviously get a full erection that stays that way until I pee? Something else going on.

I started watching porn at 11 or 12. No internet yet. It was video tapes or pictures in a magazine. It next went to squiggly porn on a tv that sometimes cleared up enough to get an image of people going at it. By the time internet porn was available, I was a full-fledged addict. Could get an erection watching but would kinda get one during sex and lose it pretty quickly. I'd have to go back to manual stimulation to get to a conclusion. Of course, when the net became so omnipresent and fast, I graduated to tons of porn. Many tabs. Edging for hours. Is my case unique? Or, are there others my age suffering from PIED even though we didn't start on high speed internet porn?

I'm about 3 weeks porn-free now and am determined to give this a solid chance. I have good will power so I won't be relapsing. A couple of questions:

Have others had this experience where they NEVER have had a full erection for sex and lose whatever does happen rather quickly?
Do you agree this is NOT a venous leak I'm dealing with?
Is it possible that I rewired my reward centers in my brain to think seeing sex on a screen is the real thing and the real thing is not good enough?

I'm making some assumptions here that I screwed up my wiring very early on and for 8 years before actually having sex, that's what my brain thought sex was.

I'm anxious and excited to see if a reboot can actually work for a guy like me or if this is just the way it is.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

  2. Oh my gosh, I totally remember that!! I wonder what my life would be like if that was the closest I had ever gotten to porn . . . thinking of how much time I did that (or how much time I spent watching films on Beta and VHS), I can't help but wonder what it would have been like if the internet was around then.
I think we are lucky that we grew up in times when it was so much harder to get a hold of, when you had to sneak into adult book stores to get a hold of the good stuff, or order it through the mail.

To answer your question, though. The answer is a resounding YES! You absolutely can change and you will get better and you can do this. Read the success stories. Read about what porn does to your brain. It is also true that it will only get worse if you don't stop. It probably won't be easy, but it is definitely worth it.

    Hello,

Did you see a doctor ? It could be the easiest way to confirm (or infirm) the diagnosis of venous leak.
The quality of your erections when you masturbate is also a good indicator to define if your problem is rather physical or psychological.
You said that you always needed a constant stimulation to keep your erection, but what do you mean by "constant stimulation" ? How much time does it take to lose your erection when you're not stimulating yourself anymore but still watching porn ?

Otherwise, you can explore your mental state the times you tried to have sex : did you feel aroused ? Anxious ? Stressed ? In my case, I discovered that my ED was mainly psychological because I realized I wasn't aroused when I failed; I wanted to do it, but just for the fact of doing it, not for the girl, not for the pleasure, not for anything arousal...

I don't know if it helped you but anyway good luck for your journey.

Thanks man. I appreciate the strong words and support. I'm not going to have an issue staying away. I've decided I'm done. But, the thoughts about it are there and that will be much more difficult. RB123

I've asked several doctors over the years and they all say there's nothing wrong. We did not do a sonogram or whatever the test is for an actual venous leak. But, I feel strongly that physically and mechanically things work right as the morning wood is strong and doesn't go away until I urinate. As far as constant stimulation to keep it going with or without porn, I mean manual stimulation.

After all those years, I think that you can try again with a doctor and ask him for a penile angiogram and other tests. It would be the easiest solution to be sure of the source of this problem.

If the issue is psychological, perhaps your body is too much used to manual stimulation. I remember, when I was a kid I was able to masturbate using my shower's water jet, but not with my hand. I progressively accustom my penis to manual stimulation and after a few months I was able to masturbate easily with my hand. And now I think that I can't masturbate with a water jet anymore.
The mechanism is perhaps the same for you, knowing that it has been 40 years that you use your hand to get pleasure. So the way you can avoid that is to practice with someone to adapt your body to a new kind of stimulation. It will probably be hard but if you find a trusted partner, you can try it.
