Help me quittin PMO

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Deleted Account, May 25, 2018.

  1. Hi everyone i am a 25 years student and preparing for compitition exams. But i am suffering from PMO for more than 6 year. Earlier it happens occassionally but now a days it has become more important than my study. It captured my mind sometimes i feel it made me slave of it. I tried much more time quitting it. But i did not overcome. No meditation or no promise could help me quitting it. I feel that i am not able to concentrate properly, i feel low confidance and underestimate myself.
Please help me guys.. It would be life changing moments for me. If i get rid of it...
    Thanx

Guess you're escaping your worries and problems through PMO, thats not how it should be, you should just face it how it is supposed to be faced. Keep up going without PMO, it will be life changing, we all are with you ! btw report us within a week of nofap, hope you dont relapse ;)

Hey! Welcome to Nofap! I'm glad you're here! We are at the same boat of getting rid of PMO, We are here to support you but the the decision to commit to your goal depends on you. As you start please have some clear goals and why you want to abstain from PMO, you're foundations are important for it will give you purpose and direction whenever hardships and temptations come. Do your journal, so you'll have a record of your plans and daily struggles that others might read and also help you. Try to gain some knowledge by reading in the forums, things might help you in your journey and if you're open for an accountabilty please do find one, daily encouragements are important as we do our reboots. Please Stay strong I know it's not going to be easy but for us even if we fail once or twice along the way, giving up is not an option. I believe you are in the right path! Take care bro! Again, welcome to nofap! :D
    God bless

  4. Hi. Welcome to forum!

Make sure you crate a personal journal thread in Reboot Logs section and blog there on a regular basis. As well as just generally be active participant in various forum discussions. I recommend this to everybody new here because it's the major thing that helped me when I was first starting. Just lurking on forums, reading and learning is great. But it usually is so much more powerful to engage. It helps to keep us motivated and accountable when we are active part of community. And keeps this in front of our minds so we don't forget about importance of it and slip away in our old habits. Sharing is also therapeutic. This is a major reason why AA meetings work so good. But that was developed before internet era. These days we can get most of the same benefits online through communities like this. So don't underestimate the power of active participation.

I would also like to suggest you to look into mindfulness meditation. It has helped me personally tremendously to learn how to deal with urges. It takes a while to get good at it and notice results, so you need to be consistent with it, but once you do it's very powerful. It has been used by sages for thousands of years to deal with various issues of the mind. And in recent decades the science is also catching up to what ancient sages have know for centuries. Meditation these days are widely used as very effective tool by psychologists for treating addiction and by neurologists for supporting recovery of the brain. It is a great exercise for the brain the same way as jogging is great exercise for the body. Check out this Ted talk, it gives a good idea of what's it about when it comes to philosophy. As far as practical side of it there is this awesome smartphone app called Headspace for guided meditations to get you started.

Wish you lot's of strength and success in your reboot journey!

Hello @Sidfantasy and welcome to NoFap you have come to the right place. And since you already know its a problem your off to a good start! One thing that has worked for me consistently is to keep busy with stuff that doesnt involve porn or pmo. There is nothing more important than you studying, except your family so start by getting rid of any porn links, videos clips or images that might cause you to relapse. You've gotta work hard on school when you are young or you wont make enough money to enjoy your life with things that matter like vacations, clothes, food, relationships basically everything good in life. Once you get older work will be much harder than school and if you dont take advantage of your education now, its gonna be much harder to educate yourself later when you dont make enough money and have to struggle to make ends meet. You have the power to change all that now, you just have to make the effort to try. Start by doing a full reboot where you dont do pmo or anything else sexually related and rebuild yourself from the ground up. Im on day 36 myself and the more days I get under my belt the easier it gets. Start a journal where you post your thoughts and experiences and problems to purge the feelings of pmo guilt and to start to learn about yourself. Also spend some time here reading other peoples journals and learning that they are not much different than yourself and what they do to resist their urges. Once you have some time under your belt then you can share with others what has worked for you. Also spend some time here and welcome other newcomers, by helping others we really help ourselves and the more time you are here the less time you will have to think about pmo. Check your inbox for an email which gives you a lot of information about pmo, and how porn affects the brain, and at the top of this page there is a panic button and if you feel the urge to relapse check the panic button for inspirational quotes tips and images and movies which will help you resist the urges. I wish you lots of luck on your journey

  7. Welcome to NoFap @Sidfantasy

It is a big step if you can understand what is triggering your urges, because this will allow you to be awake and kill those urges as soon as they appear.

I recommend you to create your own "Emergency Toolbox" with readings that can be handy to read when you start feeling urges to screw up.
I can share this post with you with my own Emergency Toolbox, it helped me a lot during the first few months, i had them in my cell and read them every time I started falling down:

    https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...y-first-320-days-of-reboot.62938/#post-473978

I wrote some tips in this post that perhaps will help you too:

    http://NoFap.com/forum/index.php?threads/tips-that-helped-me-to-start-my-reboot.46617/#post-330318
You can watch some interesting videos which are also very helpful in this post:
    http://nofap.com/forum/index.php?th...t-help-me-a-lot-during-my-reboot.39774/page-2

I also suggest you to read "Breaking the Cycle" by George Collins, it is a must-read if you are serious about getting rid of this addiction.
To get more focus and feel happier with life I recommend you to start doing meditation.. I have been using an App called Headspace for the last two months which is great if you have never meditated before. The first 10 sessions are free if you want to give a try. I used to feel a bit depressed or feeling without energy to start new projects in my life, and meditation has helped me a lot with this.

Last but not least, I would strongly recommend you to take the NoFap Academy course if you can afford it. The course is great but the best value are the weekly video calls with @alexander (the creator of NoFap and NoFap Academy) and Mark Queppet, where you can chat with them in real life and listen to other guys's stories and problems too.

I hope that all this helps you to fight this shitty addiction.
    Let's keep on fighting

Hello @Sidfantasy and welcome to the NoFap community. You're in the right place and there are a lot of really good people here to support you (and each other) on this journey. Here are some things that I found helpful:

There are a lot of good resources here. There is the List of Resources found here: https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-users-list-of-rebooting-resources.50878/

There are also groups you can join with likeminded men.

Three things I found extremely valuable are:
-getting an accountability partner; that forum is here: https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?forums/accountability-partners.7/

-starting a journal and writing in it daily. You'll find that section under Reboot Logs. I would also suggest reading others' journals and other posts.

-interact with the guys here. You will find an amazing community of supportive, motivating guys all on the same journey as you are.

You don't have to do this alone. We're all in this together, and together we are stronger.

Welcome to NoFap, my friend! I'm proud of you for joining and glad you're here.

    All my best!
    Jay
