I also feel sorry for you, we'll talk back in a year and you'll tell me
Reversed delayed ejaculation has actually been a problem for me, as i said, right now i can't even have sex. The quality of my erection is slightly better, but as i said, i cal last 30 seconds now, so it's not very useful...
For the other things, i just saw up and downs about them, like always in life, and the motivations can be many, from diet, from the sport you practice, meditation, and a lot of other things.
OK, we get it, NoFap doesn't work for you. But why to you have to force your anecdotal evidence down our throats? What's the point? If it's not beneficial to you just move on with your life. I wish you all the best in life with or without fapping. For me controlling my compulsive addictive behavior makes night and day difference and no one can convince me otherwise.
I throw a year into this thing, expecting some result, but i got none, sorry if i'm trying to talk about that
I've thrown nearly 2 decades in PMOing and last decade of fighting to control it. Some guys here have even longer and much more successful track records of fighting it, so one year "wasted" on NoFap is really not that long period.
What accounts for you long steak this round? You're doing great.
So is it denied to talk about it if i think it's overstimated and i didn't get results? It makes you look like a religion integralist.
@arkad1 you should try to limit any other high intensity pleasures or stimulations. this is my personal theory and has helped me alot with social anxiety and my studies - porn is just one of the high intensity pleasures which desensitizes the brain. we must quit other high intensity pleasure too (or atleast limit them). other high intensity pleasures i have recently quit - watching comedy shows, listening to too much music (especially on headphones) and playing too much videogames. and all this has really helped me in achieving a much clearer mind.
porn is one of those high intensity pleasures (infact one of the highest intensity pleasures) and i feel that it must be completely eliminated and not just limited.
just my 2 cents. cheers !
I agree with the list of benefits but I think it's more to do with having confidence, which nofap aims to build. It's simply a tool, not a cure though
also i forgot to mention that i quit all forms if social media too (except here - wont use this platform as social media though ). it desensitizes the brain alot.
Mostly knowing how bad things were during last relapse period when I totally lost control over my compulsive behavior. I know I can't go back to it. The other thing that helps me is not focusing on abstention but improving other aspects of life like (daily exercise, balanced diet, enough sun, sleeping, broadening social connections). I also write daily journal in journal section to keep myself accountable over 7 steps. It's very good for analyzing your progress or lack of it.
I clearly acknowledged NoFap has no benefits for you and I respect that. What I don't understand is why you have to attack people who clearly notice benefits from abstention. I'd never be so confident to dismiss anyone trying to abstain from any addictive compulsive behavior as being self deluded charlatan. Especially after reading latest neuroscience findings on how addictions affect our brains. I really advise you to read The Biology of Desire: Why Addiction Is Not a Disease and Addiction and Choice before commenting that people fighting PMO are imaging things that are not real.
I don't want o attack anyone, if you highlight me where i attacked anyone i'm willing to make my excuses.
I comment that those thing are not real because i'm one of those people you're talking about, and after a year, i'm not seeing any of the advantages, as i told you, and as i opened this thread for...
I don't understand why i get attacked for telling my experience, should i just shut up? Is it denied? Is it blasphemy if nofap doesn't give you any advantage? Should i censor myself?
If you don't like the topic of the thread or you don't want to read about it, please just don't partecipate in the thread, i want to talk only with people who don't get offended if i say nofap is placebo, like i offended your mothers or your god, please stop it, if that's the attitude stay out the thread and don't bring negativity in this.
He's only one example of you offending people who don't agree with your point of view. As for commenting privileges, this is a public thread, I'll comment where ever I want.
Yes, that dude started offending me a lot before i wrote that, he has been suspended for that, you can see he's temporarily suspended, that's why i answered him harshly
That is obviously the only example, don't be a liar please
Yes you are absolutely welcome to write and express your opinion here, but if you come here just to tell me that i should stop writing and go away, then maybe you are in the wrong thread, i assume
If you are a big expert on nofap, stop being negative, and tell me why it's not working for me, that would be a positive comment for the thread.
Great insight - - sometimes other addictions can replace the ones you give.
Fapper 1: gives PMO, starts working out, reading self help books, sets clear goals
Fapper 2: gives up PMO but continues to sit in the basement playing video games....wonders where his super powers are...
@arkad1 not saying you're fapper 2 - but do you have any other habits, addictions or psubs that can be sapping energy?
I've actually been reading a lot of self helps and books from 2012, always been in shape, but started going to the gym again 2 months ago...
This said, as i said before a lot of times, if nofap doesn't work alone, it just doesn't work, IT'S THE OTHER THINGS THAT WORKS! It's the diet, the meditation, the gym, the reading that makes your life better, not nofap!
It doesn't make any sense otherwise, i can tell you that pinching your butt twice a day can make your life great, but only if you also go to the gym, meditate, read, and have a good diet. That doesn't make any sense !
Nofap is working for me only in my erections and libido, but i think premature ejaculation is worse than before nofap. I don't notice other benefits like more women attraction. However i don't expect those kind of benefits. I'm doing nofap only for my erections and libido, and my brain fog.
Anyways, in general i feel a lot better than before. I was an addict to PMO during 14 years. The best thing of nofap is that i don't waste time watching porn 3 hours a day and i can do other thing to improve myself.
Nofap maybe is a placebo, maybe not, but i'm here only because i saw a lot of anecdotal evidence that nofap works so it motivated me to do this challenge.
Going to doctor all the time looking for an answer really stressed me so much that i've started looking on internet things that i can do to heal myself, and then i found this page and i'm very happy that i found this because i thought i was the only that was struggling with these problems.
Nofap is a tool to beat anxiety. I think anxiety is the main problem here (and porn obviously).
I don't know what you expected from abstention. If you expected social anxiety to go away just because you stopped PMOing, I must disappoint you, your expectations were way too high. Abstaining makes social anxiety even worse if you had it as preexisting condition as oxytocin and vasopressin released during orgasm have analgesic properties and calming effect. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4276444/ Stop having frequent orgasms actually makes you more anxious and depressed if you don't address underlying psych issues causing anxiety/depression. That's what CBT, aerobic exercise, meditation, Omega3, sun, antidepressants are anxiolytics are for (not that I recommend taking the last two).
Abstinence does help with PIED (through D2 receptors level normalization) if there is no physical cause for it and improves energy levels (gathered from your posts you didn't have problems with ED in the first place). It's normal that energy levels improve, when you're not jerking off 5 or more times a day. Compulsively flooding your brains with analgesic substances is not good for your energy level (very similar to taking anxiolytics). If you PMO only few times a week and never develop progression, I guess not much harm will come to you. 90 % of population has no problem with PMO.
As of ill effects on your sexual intercourse stamina, it's totally normal that you can't last long in bed after few months of abstention. You become hyper sensitive to sexual stimuli which is not beneficial for duration of the intercourse. Things go back to normal pretty soon after having frequent regular sex or MB.
It sounds like you are not addicted in the first place.
I personally masturbated so much using such a rough technique I have limited sensitivity, blow jobs feel like nothing to me. If i could get even that back it would be a huge super power.
Not to mentioned sneakily looking at porn on my phone at times when I shouldn't be. Graduating to watching worse and more extreme porn (all legal though thank god).
So clearly nofap for me would improve my life immensely. It all depends on the person.
