90 Day Challenge Until My Girlfriend Comes to Visit

Day 29 Check In:

Well, my big interview is in about 2 hours, I'll have to change into my suit before then. Of course I have some nerves even though I have been practicing well all week. I'm not expecting too much so I'll just see how it goes. Tomorrow is Day 30. My girlfriend finally starts class so I won't be able to call her 2-3 hours a day like I normally do but we'll make it work. I think I'll get a seasonal job for now at least while I'm having trouble finding a professional job. Maybe I'll take a break from posting here after tomorrow for a while as it doesn't seem super necessary at the moment. I'll at least check in for day 30, then again maybe I'll keep my every day journal, we'll see.

 

Day 30 Check In:

Well, I finally got a part time job to do in the meantime while I look for other professional opportunities. That will be taking up 30 hours a week from here on out, it'll be good to keep busy. I watched too much YouTube today which was regrettable but my interview went seemingly well last night. I'll have to significantly budget my time better once my part time job starts, the training session is tomorrow so they're not wasting any time. It's the holiday season as well, I've got my work cutout for me.

I don't feel super different at day 30 than I felt before actually, still feel a little discouraged by how much difficulty I'm having finding a professional job but I'll keep doing my best everyday.

 

Day 31 Check In:

Went to the part time hiring even this morning, looks like I’ll start work for 4 hours a day 5 days a week from next week, I have to figure out t gym schedule around that. Going to do a quick video interview soon and send some more emails to apply to more places. It’s great I’ll finally have some income flow to start saving for my big trip in the spring. I’ll get up early around 6am tomorrow and progressively drive that time down to hit the 4:30/5am target for next week. That might prove too early, then I’d have to move my workout routine to after work, I’ll see.

I feel so stupid wasting time watching YouTube recently, my girlfriend will be busier soon so we won’t be able to talk everyday for 2-3 hours a day like we normally do. I’ll send some more email applications too, it seems like those can be effective actually.

 

Day 32 Check In:

Got a second interview with the company I did a foreign language interview with, I still need to improve my skills a lot but I’m proud to have made it this far. I’m planning to wrap up a song for my girlfriend possibly later today or at least on the weekend, I’ve got a lot more emails to send that can be really time consuming with the applications that go along with them. It’ll be good to start working my part time job soon, and I can’t believe there’s only 59 days till my girlfriend visits here, it seems especially shorter having gone below the 60 day/2 month mark, I’ll keep doing my best every day!

 

Day 33 Check In:

Thanks man, I make a wide variety using electronic & orchestral instruments largely from Nexus’ Hollywood Expansion combined with drum samples & some Sylenth. I want to make a career out of it but my fear of not making enough money and lack of strong commitment to what would be a risky endeavor is something I struggle with everyday.

I’ve been feeling a bit down today, my girlfriend is busier now & we could only talk for an hour instead of 2 or 3 like we have been for a while. I will be busier with my part time job starting soon, it’s going to be an adjustment. I have an interview tomorrow morning with a marketing company that responded to my application with suspicious expedience, it will be good practice nonetheless. I feel like I’ve ran out of companies to apply to in my field, working my manual labor part time job will at least keep my mind off of things.

I still hope to secure a full time offer starting early next year, once that goes through I can stop worrying so much and stop spending to much time filling out applications and actually devote more time to my music while continuing to work part time while waiting for my professional job to start.

I feel like that point keeps getting more difficult to reach as the day goes by. I burned 500 calories in the stationary bike today so I should have enough natural endorphins to keep me going, I just need to change my attitude. Had another wet dream last night too, so I shouldn’t be angsty. I’ll remain calm and do my best at my interview tomorrow, that’s the best thing I can do for now.

 

Day 34 Check In:

My parents were asking about NoFap today, pretty weird conversation I don’t think they understand it exactly. Went out to dinner with my parents as well which was nice. Tomorrow my girlfriend & I will cook the same dish & watch a movie over Skype which will be nice. I’ll go to sleep early & work ok music tomorrow morning after the grocery store, I’ve got to finish a song for my girlfriend pretty soon for her birthday. The company I interviewed with today was pretty sketchy but I’m looking forward to my manual labor part time job starting soon. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

 

Day 35 Check In:

Skyped my girlfriend for a record 7 hours today, we cooked the same dish and then watched her favorite chick flick which warrants watching my favorite dark violent dude film next time. She got to talk to my parents a little too which was nice.

I had yet another wet dream/nocturnal emission last night, I feel like the last one was only 2 days ago or so. It’s a bit cumbersome for it to happen so often & I considered PMO to “let off some steam” & avoid having to change my boxers in the middle in the night twice a week but I realize that was just my brain trying to make excuses and though better of it.

It’s great to see the 40 & 45 day marks on the horizon, at that point I’ll be halfway to 90 days which means only a bit longer till my girlfriend visits! It’s really exciting though she’s still having trouble finding birth crontrol which is really annoying to me because there’s not much I can do to affect the foreign medical bureaucracy from across the ocean. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if she could find it, I asked her about it today and she still can’t find an appointment.

I’m also excited to finally record some more music this weekend, I’ve been so busy with applications and going to sleep really early but tonight I can get another verse recorded.

Also it looks like my daily check in thread has reached 1,000 views, I hope I can inspire other people who are also struggling with long distance situations. If I can do it so can everyone else. Onwards to 40 days!

 

Day 36 Check In:

Had a productive day mixing vocals and making a new flash cards to study for my interview this week, the interview with the suspicious company is tomorrow so I’ll see how that goes. It really feels I’ve run out of places to apply but at least I’ll enjoy my part time job when that starts soon.

I’ve got less than 10 days to my halfway mark, my girlfriend will be busier soon but so will I, I will remain calm and focused as I move towards the end of this PMO free month and on to the next one.

Day 37 Check In:

Finished my sketchy interview, as expected another pay for performance sales job, I don’t like the sound of those and the lack of guaranteed income. Especially since they sell internally, I’m really not comfortable with that.

I’ve got my follow up to my big foreign language interview tomorrow, I’ll be studying a lot for that today. I can’t believe there’s only 54 more days till my girlfriend comes to visit, it would be wonderful to get the job I’m interviewing for tomorrow but things will work out if I don’t as well.

I’ve realized it might be better to not work a professsional job so I can concentrate on music actually, and I prefer to earn a steady living unlike what working in sales would entail. I’ve got a lot of work to do from now to tomorrow.

 

Day 38 Check In:

My first Skype interview of the day went very well, I have one more interview tonight for a foreign position, I feel a little more prepared than last time but this time talking to a senior member of the company may be more serious. I’ve been feeling a bit restless today & yesterday night so I presume another wet dream will relieve that in the next couple days. I’ll be studying foreign language the rest of the day to prepare, absolutely no time to PMO. Once I get an offer finally I’ll be able to concentrate more on music and stop all this job hunting nonsense. My interview skills have improved tremendously throughout the process, I wish I could talk to less serious companies early on but this is how it’s all turned out. I just have to stay calm and maintain composure.

 

Day 39 Check In:

Happy Halloween everyone! Pretty normal day, got another interview opportunity but in a location I really don’t want to move to. Nevertheless a great chance to improve my skills once again. I am now facing a 3rd interview from my foreign job prospect, I’m getting tired of it but at least they seem to like me and the labor force there is shrinking so it makes sense that they would appreciate my canidacy despite my lack of fluency in their language. Excited for day 40 tomorrow!

 

Day 40 Check In:

Nearly halfway there! I finished making my girlfriend’s birthday card today, I think she’ll really like it, mailing it tomorrow morning & hopefully working on some music production tonight though I still want to go to bed early. Recently been spending too much time watching YouTube again, that’s tough to break though at least I’m off of Reddit now. I realize I need to spend a lot more time writing lyrics. In fact I’ll work on that right now, onwards to day 45.

 

Day 41 Check In:

Woke up super late today, felt paranoid the letter for my girlfriend’s birthday wouldn’t reach her on time but after confirming how quickly the previous one I sent arrived I felt better. At this point I’d say we’ve become very well adjusted to our LDR. There’s only 50 days till we reunite for a bit & being able to talk every single day for an hour or two as part of routine has really been great for us. Got to work on my music more now, wishing everyone a great weekend.

Day 47/48 Check In:

I’ve finally passed the halfway point, thankfully my letter & package I sent my girlfriend for her birthday arrived early so I don’t have to worry about that. I have my final interview with the foreign company in 9 days, it’s been such a long process & even if I get the offer it’d be a huge decision to make. No luck so far with temporary seasonal jobs, I’ve been to 2 hiring events but haven’t heard back from a company yet.

I had a wet dream last night, another one of those dreams in which I watch P in the dream. It’s been a long time since I last had one like that so I feel I’ve improved. I’ve been limiting my YouTube use to only when eating lunch to try to cut down on it.

This weekend my sister will come home to see a musical with my family one day and the other my girlfriend & I will cook something together on Skype. I’m also excited one of my best friends returns from abroad in less than 2 weeks, I’m looking forward to getting the gang back together then.

It’s important to stay positive, with over 50% done there’s no turning back now.

 

Day 63 Check In:

Had another wet dream the night before last. Seems it’s been 2 weeks since the last one. Girlfriend will be here in 4 weeks time. I am excited & a little nervous to move abroad in February for work. Currently having fun with a manual labor part time job. It’s been stressful looking for an apartment in another country that I can afford but is still livable. So much going on all of a sudden it seems, hope everyone is enjoying the Thanksgiving break.
