I was wondering if you loose some nutrients like magnesium, potassium and such when you ejaculate. I have naturally a low level of those and I had a terrible week of relapse and today my health is at its lowest. And I wondered if there was some kind of link. Medically backed up answer is welcomed.
Nothing ever so significant. It's likely the same as an equivalent amount of egg white - doesn't even register as a nutrient loss. Better to look toward your actual diet if you're nutrient deficient. .
Whenever I PMO I experience an "ejaculation hangover" which feels like an alcohol hangover and lasts about 24 hours. One thing I notice is severe foot cramps at night, but I can relieve them almost instantly by taking some powdered glutamine sublingually. That is probably part of it, but I almost always have foot cramps in the night after an ejaculation. The arch of my foot just keeps tightening and tightening and won't stop until I take 1/4 teaspoon of glutamine powder. Then it stops almost immediately as I let the glutamine absorb through the lining of my mouth. So I am pretty certain that glutamine is depleted by ejaculation. It's not as simple as nutrients in the semen. I have actually tried swallowing my own semen after an ejaculation to see if that might eliminate the awful 24 hour hangover, and it does not. It's not like there is 1/4 teaspoon of glutamine in the semen I ejaculate for example. Another thing is nutrients need to be in the parts of the body where they are needed. A person should never be deficient in glutamate, because it is plentiful in almost everything we eat. However, my brain is deficient in glutamate (according to a neurotransmitter test). I must have a genetic problem such that the glutamate I consume doesn't reach my brain. There is a connection between spinal fluid and semen too. Possibly the prostate takes glutamic acid from the spinal fluid and that depletes my brain which is already deficient.

I used to eat my semen every time I masturbated for years - and still would, honestly, except that I’ve all but stopped masturbating. Not sure if “recycling” my nutrients helped much at all. I think the biggest drain is the dopamine hit and subsequent withdrawal. My suggestions would be: Don’t masturbate in the first place. Replace those nutrients through diet. Take supplements
People on the NoFap subreddit tend to overstate the amount of nutrients contained in semen. You don't really lose that many nutrients when you ejaculate. Excessive PMO and edging for hours can really affect your digestion though, and when your digestion is inhibited, you won't be absorbing nutrients as efficiently. So in a roundabout way, excessive PMO can cause some nutritional deficiencies.
Oh yeah I didn't mention that I edged for 2 to 5 hours everyday before O during those relapses. For 8 days I have edged maybe 30+ hours. And I have some digestion problem ( I always had but it's been worse these last days). I have also a kidney problem that make me loose potassium. And I noticed that when I edge I urine a lot more than usual.
Yeah, PMO probably affects lots of neurotransmitters, and if a person already has a genetic problem that creates an imbalance in neurotransmitters then the demands of PMO can really mess up that person's psychological state. I agree with you that recycling the nutrients didn't seem to help at all. It's obviously more complicated than that unfortunately.
