Why don't our governments ban porn?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by gordonfreeman14603, Sep 26, 2023.

Can it be possible?

  1. It will dramatically cut down porn consumption/production.

"paying the sentence of a crime we didn't commit" is the phrase i have a problem with. if you mean it's because we're paying the price of having sex we didn't actually have, that's completely fine.

whereas if you mean it's the government, our parents, or society's fault for not hammering into us the negative effects of porn use, and that watching porn was never our fault, i disagree.

In order to have a " meaningful " conversation with someone, first you have to understand what that person is saying. Otherwise, you are just talking to yourself. Like this case.

If you were never informed of the dangers of something then how can it be your fault? Most also get hooked at a very young age where you have even less awareness of what you're doing and with no guidance there to tell you otherwise. When people first started smoking cigarettes they weren't to know the dangers of doing so, it was only decades later that the evidence was clear in how harmful it is. If a person was to start smoking now whilst knowing full well of the risk then you can say that was their responsibility but we aren't there yet with porn.

Yes there are many people trying and failing to quit now that they know the negative impact it has on them but the horse has already bolted, it's not as simple as just stopping, you are now at the point of addiction - something no one thought they were signing up for.

In my Opinion no Government on Earth should ban most things.
There is something called Free Will.
You even have the Free Will to eat Fast Food although you can have a high risk to suffer from Cancer.
And where comes the Money who is giving you the Treatment for medical Support?
Correct it is us who are paying for it with our Taxes.
It is easier to get rid of Alcohol Cigarettes and Porn by yourself than lets say Hard Drugs.
We should have the Choice to consume it.
Although personally I dont support anything here.
We should ban Sex and Human Trafficking all around the World and bringing Drug Lords in Jail. Because thats the real evil Thing here.
You as a Drug Lord want to let people consume Hard Drugs so People can't get rid of it whereas Porn is not the same although it has some similarities.
And Slavery with Woman is also Part of that big Suffering.
The main Perpertrators who are responsible for Sex and Human Trafficking should never come out of jail again until they die.
Infact they should pay for the Victims till they die as well.
Banning Porn is not the right Solutions.
But Controlling it much better is making more sense.
You can't even ban illegal Movie Streams or live Sports Matches altough you have to pay for it normally. You can't even ban VPN. xD
You will always get access to it.
Following your Sexual Desire is a natural Habit.

The only Thing what is not okay is to missuse Kids or Animals for any kind of Acts because they are innocent by Nature.

Banning porn is a slippery slope. What do we mean by porn anyway? Would it include movies as well? Would a film like Schindler's List be banned? How about art? Would Michelangelo's David sculpture be illegal?

Another thing is that fewer people would come to this site because who's going to discuss doing illegal stuff on a forum? I expect undercover police would join the forum trying to track down people who are looking at porn. There would be less trust between members because we wouldn't know who the undercover police were.

I would say that if the government banned any and all kinds of porn, there are a few issues that would come up. First off, someone would have to decide where to draw the line. Obviously hardcore porn would be banned, but beyond that, there is softcore porn, would that be banned as well? What about sex scenes in movies? Short nudity scenes, women wearing almost see-through clothing, movie scenes where its not porn and no one is naked, but its extremely sexual and the sounds are very pornographic. The question would be how far to take the ban and what all would be included.

Next is the issue of movies that have already come out in the past. Would they do a house to house search of porn and any porn-related material?

And lastly, and most important to me personally, is what else would be banned. If someone in the government convinced congress to pass a law banning any and all porn and porn related material, what would be next? Would they decided and and all firearms could be confiscated?

I'm not saying I disagree with porn being banned, I'm just saying that if it were to happen someday, in my opinion, it would never be as simple as just saying online porn in our country is gone forever.

  13. On owned-and-controlled Wikipedia, the following is written:

In short: it's all been downhill since the 1960's because... "freedom of speech."
It may not matter anywhere else but it's important when Big Porn needs protecting.

Hey I'm curious if you know of any sites, articles, or resources that provide proof of this. I believe you, I just never heard anyone else say this really so I'm curious what your sources are. I mean it makes sense. Look at Epstein and people like that. But I'm still curious if there's more info on the subject.

That's a little extreme to say that therapists say that porn in harmless, especially if you're talking about therapists talking to their clients with a sex/porn addiction. Also, I'm wondering where you're getting your information from when you say that not all urologists are aware of porn induced sexual dysfunction.

Too late. If porn were banned right from the start decades ago, most people could've been shielded from its effects even now, with the omnipresent Internet.

But it was legal long enough for an astronomic amount of material to be created so that even if the government bans it, it's hard to see how the ban could be effectively enforced besides smashing every electronic device in the country with a hammer.

The only way that porn could be stamped out is if the overwhelming majority of people rejected it. That's not happening because the reasons why people became interested in porn in the first place did not go away. And there's no competing outlet that could siphon people away from porn. Still waiting for them sexbots.

    Nice.

Way to look credible and back up your argument.

What argument did I not back up?? Be specific. (Unless of course you're just starting arguments like a petty child.)
