Should I become a NEET?

A lot of the stress of adulthood seems needlessly artificial. Of course, you need some form of work and stress in your life to keep going but what is the point in modern education? Why can't anyone I know answer that? Why did I spend 17 years of my life in education just to become a wage slave while some guy makes millions making videos on opening kinder eggs? Can't remember the last time I went out of my way to read a book in school. Homeschooling and self-education seems to be the best route academia-wise. I don't care anymore, only reason I am at school is so I can have a job which can provide an income I can live off of. That's it. I don't want to slowly stagnate into being a cog in some crumbling system. I can get disability benefit and live with my parents, I'd be much happier that way rather than stressing for years over exams in an endless limbo of disappointment.

  2. Damn I didn't realise Holden Caulfield had a NoFap account.

All jokes aside, you're going through a teenage angst that most, if not all people your age go through. It's completely normal. The way I look at it you can take one of two paths. You can make changes to your life to improve it, or you can not do that. It really is that simple. I don't believe you actually want to be a parasite that feeds off of people who actually work hard, with no prospects and nothing but crushing mediocrity to look forward to until you die, unsatisfied with a life you never bothered living. I don't believe that for a single second. I think you're just saying that because you're angry with your life and want to change but don't know how. Well guess what? Nobody can truly tell you the answer. We can give advice but we can't live your life for you. You have to do that. Instead of overdosing on blackpills on a website for chronically porn addicted incels, take a long hard look at yourself and start making those changes. Don't tell me that you can't cause I don't want to hear it. I want to hear what you can do to make you life better, and then I want to hear that you're doing it. All the best.

What about reading a book outside of school? So what about self education then? You can start anywhere, you may need to learn a certain amount to recognize there are gaps in creating your own curriculum but if you can get excited about learning something of your own choosing by all means. The tricky thing is doing it alone takes a lot of discipline, and other people may not care or recognize the value of what you're trying to do, whereas they do buy into schooling. One of the qualities you'll need is not caring what other people think if you see and know the value of what you're trying to learn. There are always at least some others who appreciate the value out there but it may be very few so keep that in mind.

  4. This is an awakening! you are realising the superficial nature of how society has been operating for so long and you don't want to be a part of that. This is a very good thing. It's how humanity has a chance of turning it all around to live freely. We are not living freely. Go to school and get taught how to be a cog in the economic wheel and spin that cog until your last day for someone else's dream. It's pathetic.

I know it is scary. The path paved out for us by the system is so well paved and obvious, it's not easy to see another way of living. The way we want to live is so full of uncertainty because it's not a cleared path, we pave it ourselves. I know it's not easy, but don't settle for the low life of a basement boy. If you are not sure yet, find something you want to do and go do it. Let go of any fear.

It's true that life under capitalism can be stressful. But at the same time don't forget that the bills don't pay themselves off.

It's all about how you feel. If it's freeing for you and you can achieve peace of mind through that path, maybe you should do it. It's a great perspective to not have any great material accomplishments and still be able to "put the world in your pocket". But have you truly reached that state of mind though? Or is the status quo still ringing a distant bell in your mind? If so, it's a cope.

The pros of being a NEET is the time and freedom you have, however the cons are you have no money and most likely dependent on someone. Then people, especially your family will despise you for not having a job.

The pros of being a wageslave is mostly just the money which gives you independence and the ability to buy stuff but you have no time or energy. And if you have bills and debt to pay then you are trapped.

The about being a NEET, or as we use to call it—abum—is you're still a slave. You're just a slave to a government disability check and your parents’ generosity.

If you REALLY want to be free, pack all your shit in a van and live on the road. Or become a wood hermit. Or just be homeless.

I think your main issue is you don't have a direction. Find your waypoint, then you can start your journey.
