Is it possible for porn websites to appear on an iPhone completely out of the blue? I saw two websites on my so's phone. He says he didn't do anything and is completely unaware how they got there. He says he knows he has caused me a lot of grief and heartache but is not going to admit to something he didn't do. How would they just randomly appear? I don't believe him and am at a loss of what to do. I suspect he relapsed after being porn free for two years.

Usually, on Android, no.... It could be a reoccurring history pop-up.... But that would still mean he would have had to have been there recently.
And for iPhone, @SuperFan is the guy to go to.
I bet he will still want to know if you have blockers up tho... And which browser you found them on.
    Standard question.
    Also, good luck, that's rough.

    The browser shouldn't really matter.

There are some websites that will auto-launch porn pages--but the caviat is that those original sites are usually porn sites themselves.

In my addiction, sometimes I would go to a porn site and click on a link, only to have it auto-launch several other pages that I would have a hard time getting out of. I couldn't hit the 'back' button fast enough, or enough times. They'd just keep popping back up.

So yes, porn sites *can* pop up, but realistically, that's never going to happen unless your son was already on a porn site to begin with.

@Sharonana I'll send you some info about how to properly lock down an iPhone.

It was Safari browser. There were several pages open and I kept going back further and further. I saw two porn websites that were very specific. So that's what makes me think they just did not randomly appear. This is my spouse, not my son. Thanks for the replies. It helps me know better what to do.

They didn't. Porn blocker works great but can be disabled on the phone easily if they know the password. If they don't know the password they can't log onto anything. I use it. I know the password but my impulse control is pretty good.

You can also set very strict restrictions on apps etc so it's like two layers of blocks not 1. You can even set up multiple passwords one in iPhone restrictions and another on the blocking site. If you have to remember 4 different passwords it loses its appeal. I also find blockers help control visual fantasy.

I know they didn't just arbitrarily pop up. He keeps on insisting he didn't do anything, but I'm not that stupid. We didn't hardly speak yesterday. He did just inform me via text that he deactivated his facebook account. I am going to insist on blocking the porn from his phone using what SuperFan sent me. I've been fighting this fight way too long. Don't know if I have anything left in me. It's all up to him now. It's time for him to own up to his behavior and admit he is a PA. He needs help, more help than I know how to give.

I only know my password because the letters S E X are in title of where I work but not in that order. Sometimes these blockers go to the extreme. I didn't even think about it till I couldn't check my email.

I use the blocker as a backup for myself. I was perfectly ok with just the controls on my phone and iPad but just wanted another layer.

Most blockers (including the ones built into the iPhone's operating system) allow you to whitelist specific websites (like the site for your company) so you can still have broad filtering without it causing you unnecessary grief.
