Hi all! I am over 40 with a great family but PMO has plagued me since I was 11 when I found a LGBT porn magazine in the woods behind my house. I feel like my issues with PMO are wildly complex and have suffered with it for decades. I honestly don't know how to break free and have just come off a 5-week PMO binge, to date the worst it has ever been. My behavior is more risky and the PMO appetite is off the chain. Today is day 1 of sobriety but I have gone for weeks, even months without PM(O) before. I am only optimistic of victory because every time I go back to PMO I become increasingly more miserable and less functional as a human being. I thought about joining the local SAA when I found this site. I decided I would start and prayerfully end here. Looking forward to starting this journey with others that have broken and are breaking free.

  4. Congrats on realizing the folly of the PMO life. My life has gotten pretty complex too, so don't feel like you are the only one. We are here to support and not to judge where you are right now.

Congrats, man. Starting the journey is a huge step and sticking with it is challenging. It is a noble endeavor that reaps benefits you wouldn't have even thought possible.

  6. Just re-read this. Did I really say folly? Must be hanging around @AndySky180 too much.

This is a great site. But I found I needed multiple strategies to beat this addiction. For me SAA was another great tool. I attend a local meeting. It's great to sit in a room full of guys with similar pain.

When I'm tempted by porn, I think about the next meeting and how great it will feel when I tell my fellow SAA members how I was able to resist. They will clap and pat me on the back. It makes you feel like you can beat anything at that point.

    My two cents...
