While I agree men and women can be platonic friends, an AP might need to be able to listen and talk about sexually explicit things which would cross a line for many. A woman might also make you feel more shame or you may not respect her opinion given your misogynistic bent of porn addiction. Are you afraid you might be gay?

I agree it’s not unreasonable that a female ap would work and maybe, better than a male. What I’m curious about is your why. Why you think a female would work or why that’s what you’re looking for. You already seemed defensive that I mention a misogynistic bent ( you do realize just bring a porn addict gives you a misogynistic view? Right?) hell even I’ve got some misogynistic views, I work hard at curtailing them, but our society is not far removed from when women had to ask permission of their husbands for credit cards! I asked about being gay because you said “ eliminates same sex attraction” which I wondered why that would matter if you have no fear of being attracted back. I’d be your ap… zero possibility of attraction. But, I guarantee, you would not like my input.

 

I think an accountability partner of the opposite gender to you could work depending on what you were looking for from them. The right kind of woman could offer a different view from a man, potentially be harsher and less likely to tolerate excuses. At the same time, a woman cannot fully understand a man's perspective no matter how hard they might want to or try to, so it might be harder for them to relate to specific issues. The reverse is also true of course.
