i have the almost the same situation with my upstairs neighbors. luckily i do not spend a lot of time at home. sometimes i wake up to them going at it and i also get the heart racing. i just try to focus on my breathing and shut it out if i am not able to watch something online with earbuds. sometimes it sucks when they play with their dog and make similar noices and i have to guess what they are doing and what i should do. i travel a lot for work so i am not around that much but if it causes problems in the future i might have to gather courage to go and say that i hear everything and it makes me feel uncomfortable, you could do the same too.

The bad news is, by choosing to focus and listen you are reinforcing your addiction. The good news is, it’s a relatively weak stimulation. Not good for you, but probably not as bad as looking at Instagram. Don’t sweat what has been done, and develop a plan for next time because you do have a choice.

You could just stay away from the wall, but if you can still hear it or it bothers you, you can cover the noise with music or media sound. If you still can’t stop thinking about it, you can even leave. Take a walk, clear your head, focus on your plans for the day or how you’re going to finish whatever task it was you abandoned, or if you still can’t get your mind off them, your recovery and how important it is to you and what you are doing for yourself, and if you still can’t stop thinking about them, remember how they are bonding as a couple and how what they are doing has almost nothing in common with the concept enforced by porn.

 

In my first house my lower female neihbor got a new boyfriend having sex 5 times a week. Wooden floors so I heard everything.

I was not a mister nice guy any more so
I let them know I was there too, by letting my leg banging the floor for example. After that they immediately stopped making noises.

Soon I rung her doorbell and asked her bluntly to keep some quieter at night because it disturbed my night rest.

You think that's bad, years ago I had a roommate who had a hot looking girlfriend and while I didn't hear moans, I had to deal with constant bed creaking from her getting drilled most nights. Personally i hate listening to people . Heard it a couple times . Neighbour across the hall in an old property was Dj he had a kid and gf. Occasionally I could hear them . I would turn the TV on . That's some weird shit bro.

When neighbors or having sex, I sometimes play some youtube recording of farts, diarrhea, and defecation against the wall. Sometimes I play some recording of laughter

If the neighbors want to make loud noise, then two can play at that game.

Also realize that the noise might not be sexual. It could be kids jumping on a bed or people exercising. Back when I was watching porn, I would think my neighbors were having sex, even if they made the slightest sound at night. But there's honestly very few ways to truly verify that the neighbors are having sex.

 

This is an issue that I've never considered, but I can easily imagine that it is hard to deal with when it does occur for you. For me it is a big trigger to be kept up at night by other people's noise, even though it's usually just them smoking hookah and talking. It would be a lot worse if it was people having sex, I'm sure...
