I don't believe anti depressants are placebo in my case.

I suffer with mental healthy problems, severe anxiety, social anxiety, severe ocd, obsessions and depression.

I used to be on two different SSRI anti depressants in the past, prozac and lexapro.

I was on the prozac for 4 years and the lexapro for about a year.

I was on the prozac first. The lexapro did really help my mental health issues, but the prozac literally made all my mental health issues near non existent. I actually didn't even get nervous in situations that would make people who didn't have anxiety issues a little nervous, job interviews and things like that.

But basically the different in my mental health on prozac and off prozac is like night and day.

The thing is I tried other medications that were not SSRI anti depressants, that did not effect serotonin, and a lot of these medications made me feel worse. I also tried a lot of supplements and they did nothing.

So what I am saying is if it was placebo then why did the other medications not make me feel much better?

I know for a fact it wasn't placebo. It would be impossible for someone who suffers from as severe mental health issues as me to feel completely fine because of placebo.

But I have heard other people say that this is the real you. This is you without mental health problems. I somewhat disagree with that. As this is you when your brain is high in serotonin all the time.

I do feel like my mental health problems were cured when I was on prozac. But are they really cured? Their not really cured because as soon as I stopped taking the drug and my brain was not high in serotonin constantly all the severe mental health problems returned.

I have also read that anti depressants don't really do much for people with mild anxiety or depression. But they can be life changing to people with severe anxiety and depression. I would say prozac was life changing for me. Going from constantly obsessing, constantly having extreme anxiety and depression to not worrying about hardly anything, not obsessing about anything, never having anxiety, even in situations that would cause people who were not generally anxious people a little anxiety.

But this might sound crazy, but the reason I don't want to be on the prozac is well two reasons, severe sexual side effects, ed and more difficult to ejaculate, and also a lot of weight gain. But the main reason I don't want to be on it is because of the severe sexual side effects.

That's because they're not a placebo lol. Try the swearing thing in my thread. It doesn't take that long for you to notice an effect and it doesn't need to feel stressful for it to work.

And did your urges for porn reduce when you were on the prozac?

    I
I didn't actually notice for years. I didn't notice when I first went on prozac about the sexual side effects. But back then I wasn't searching for answers constantly on the computer. I didn't even read the side effects on the leaflet in the medication.

It was when I got with women a few times I couldn't keep it up.

I think with any SSRI the sexual side effects are very bad initially, and then they gradually start to reduce. But I think on prozac and another SSRI I tried lexapro that I did still have some level of sexual side effects on them, even after I had been on them for a year or years.

Put it this way, when I stopped prozac I noticed very quickly how good ejaculation felt, and I obviously enjoyed PMOing much more when I stopped the prozac.

I think there is no doubt SSRI drugs have a high potential of causing some level of sexual side effects.

  5. did SSRi`s make you feel nothing at all ?
I mean , make you feel like a robot , no emotions...

    my doctor gives me :
    Bupropion + Mirtazapine
    for this problem, no emotions,

I feel a little better, not really really like before ,

  6. Ever try Cannabis ? aka weed

    its an natural anti-depressant ,
(but if you were on a bad cycle of sadness-emptiness of depression makes you worse! since its catalyst ,If you feel good,it will gain it to more good
and if you feel sad make you feel sadder!)

    anyway

also cures many mental - brain problems, like epilepsy &...

I was epileptic since I was born
I tried any anti-seizure pills for over 15 years. but nothing worked
but finnaly we found medical-cannabis in 2017, I started smoking for a year, and 0 seizures until today!
it also helped me quit excessive masturbation! (it is an old drug to cure this since very long time ago)

  7. Maybe prozac has a similar effect on you as say, a couple of beers or some marijuana has on other people.

It takes the edge off but isn't a wonder drug.

  8. so you also feel nothing at all ?
how did you cure it ?
which drug used or you doctor tell you to take and it will cure feel nothing at all ?
are still you feel same ?

  9. I feel emotions. I probably feel things too much compared to most people.

I was on prozac for about two years but that was a long time ago.

I don't take drugs now except for caffeine and a little alcohol.

Overall I feel better nowadays. That's partly from just accepting who I am. Every day is a learning experience.

  10. hmm so Prozac cured your not feeling anything ?

im already very better from 7 month ago, now I do things that I enjoy, I have more hope deep inside, and not feeling sad
my main problem is I cant feel anything at all!
I read on some website, that masturbation will cause this
ever see someone here mention the same problem ?

  11. I don't think prozac cured me, no. It was a welcome distraction at the time I guess, but not much more. A combination of placebo and a little numbing effect perhaps.

Perhaps you're in a "flatline"? You should be able to find plenty of information about flatlines here.

This didn't appear in my alerts weirdly. I would hazard a guess that your dose wasn't high enough. SSRI type drugs like prozac are the only actual way to cure behavioural addictions and the addiction should be cured within a day with the correct dosage.

  13. That's a strong statement. Any proof?

  14. SSRIs are dangerous. Messing with your brain can result in worse problems than you set out to cure in the first place.

I don't exactly know how dangerous they're. But something I can say for certain is I felt 100% better on them.

It's quite difficult to hear that something is really bad and not to take it when you actually feel much better on it. Better to the point you no longer have any mental health problems that are seriously causing you a poor quality of life.

Some people say this is placebo. My response to that is placebo my arse.

  16. You (think you) feel better NOW. No guarantee the stuff will keep doing you good in the future. Better to deal with one's problems than to play the Russian roulette with mind-altering drugs imo.

I'm actually not on them at the moment, and haven't been for years.

The severe sexual dysfunctions I got on them stopped me from going back on them. I also didn't like that I gained a lot of weight on them.

But I'm not denying how much better my menal health was on them. Because my mental health was much better on them.

  18. they cure with damaging brain psychically! in curing manner,

for quitting behavioural addictions , for me was , Weed
not streetweed but Medical ones with no additional substance added to weed,

The SSRI`s its selfs are addictive! since you dont get same effect with passing of the time, the doctor increase your dosage more and more every visit, for doing same effects again , and, its their business! they have contracts and meetings with pharmaceutical companies and they say to doctors what to Prescript to people and what not!
and doctors take they percentage share...
    like a drug gangs

    true story

The withdrawal effects don't last more than a month for most people although I'm not denying they can be dangerous.

  20. @fedmom It seems the paper says something a bit different than 'SSRI type drugs like prozac are the only actual way to cure behavioural addictions' bro
