    Hi,

I am giving it another go at giving up porn. I have it up for about a month last year and eventually broke and relapsed. It is impacting my relationship and I think I have PIED, though it could just be my meds. Either way, I joined a support group this time to try and have some accountability around the process. I'm not happy I'm doing this. I'm not looking forward to it. I quit smoking pot earlier this year and I'm noticing that as I give up 1 vice, 2 more just take it's place. I don't exactly believe all the listed benefits of rebooting, but at this point that doesn't really matter. I'm just going to have to take this day by day and live with the agony of losing another vice. I'm not optimistic about the notion of change. I can't keep living my life as I have though.

    Hi there @MiserableCompany,

I see you've done this before - a month clean is a real achievement! And major kudos to you - a support group is by far one of the better ways to quit. Having regular check ins, camaraderie, personalised encouragement... The opposite of addiction is engagement, so you've made a great choice in how you'll quit.

Also, more kudos to you - in early recovery, alcohol and recreational drugs are not your friends. They reduce inhibitions (which is why we like them), but that is the OPPOSITE of what you're trying to do here... you're trying to BUILD an inhibition - one that says, "Don't do PMO". So another good decision you've made there.

Why not start with this: write down the reasons you want to get recovery from PMO: anything you've lost, anything you're afraid you're not going to achieve, whatever. Go over it every day, adding and refining as you go. If you focus on your motivation to quit, it will help you to translate those thoughts into actions.

Your support group will give you more personalised information and help, but to my eye, you've made some great decisions that will give you a good foundation for beating these issues.

Well done! Wishing you all the best for your reboot and welcome to Nofap!
