Dogs all the way. I am allergic to cats, but even if I wasn't I'd be a dog person.

Dogs are so hype. They are always happy to see you(unlike people), they are always down to play, and they give so much unconditional love. Once you are bonded with a dog they just want to you to be happy. Like what an ideal friend. Sure they take a bit of responsibility, and they can limit your freedom more than a cat, but the best relationships in life take work. Dogs are worth the work.

Huge double plus bonus points if they like to wrastle and/or get the zoomies when you chase them.
Also, you can teach a dog to give you fist bumps. Check mate cats.
