Mine besides the ones you haven't mentioned are Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher, John Carpenter, Oliver Stone, David Lynch, Tony Scott, Brian DePalma, Robert Rodriguez, George A. Romero, Francis Ford Coppola
Scorsese all the way, the guy has an awesome resume. Gangs of New York, Goodfellas, The Aviator, The Departed, and Casino just to name a few. Ron howard is a close second though and he isnt even on your list.
Christopher Nolan is pretty good. I also like M. Night and James Gunn. There are lots of movies I feel have good direction, but I hardly ever remember to check who the director actually was.
I didn't think of him... I only put the directors I first thought of. Personally, when I think of Ron Howard I think of The Da Vinci Code and I didn't think that was a great film.
I actually liked that movie, but i also like him for Cinderella Man, Apollo 13 and a Beautiful Mind to name a few.
When they moviefy a book it NEVER is decent. I don't know, I can eat up Dan Brown's novels but the movies were pretty lacklustre. Inferno movie was changed completely at the end IIRC. I think Spielberg will always go down well. Tarintino is pretty damn good as well. So is M Night actually if you're a horror fan which I most certainly am, Kubrick's films are also very unusual but I'm a fan of.
Personally I like Ridley Scott just for the movie Kingdom of Heaven, one of the greatest and significant movies of it's decade. A few good directors that were neglected: Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Clint Eastwood (Gran Torino, Heartbreak Ridge), Mel Gibson (Braveheart, Hacksaw ridge), George Miller (Mad Max)
Chris Nolan and James Cameron... Not like it matters. Disney pretty much owns all of hollywood now so I won't be paying for any of their garbage anymlre
Haha, yeah, I personally think he is the weakest among the others I have named. And I´ve forgot David Lynch, Roman Polanski and John Waters of course or any of the old classic ones like Orson Welles, Erich von Stroheim, Fritz Lang,Sergei Eisenstein, Murnau or Roger Corman.
