As the heading itself says I waste a lot of time the day on youtube to just look for one video but I end up watching too many videos thereby wasting a lot of time. I watch youtube on my Ipad which currently only used to watch youtube before I had way too much work on it but now it feels that it is the one causing trouble for me. Guys, please help me to get out of this trap.

Try to play games, game will make u tired and u will don't have time to remain on wasting time on utube

  3. I got a strategy for youtube you might like.
If you watch on smartphone, throw it away when you go to bed or take a shit, groom your cat instead.
On the PC, block elements manually with adblock except search box. If you need something on youtube you have to search it, dont let the algorithm suggesting shit. The UI will look like crap and you will feel to reverse the blocked elements and you will realize you are addicted and stop right there. Search your own music, your own relaxing videos and with time you will lose interest. The algorithms are dangerous on all social media, dont let yourself spoon fed by them.

This is bad advice because games are addictive just like YouTube is. Both of these things give you surges of dopamine, and all of us here are trying to reset our brain's reward system, not placate it with PMO substitutes.

I suggest using the video search of Duckduckgo. You can find all the Youtube videos and are not distracted by personal recommendations. Or if you can code a bit you can use the Pytube library in Python to download Youtube videos to your machine with only the url as input.

I would recommend getting out of the house, being with people, exercise, or find a hobby that doesn’t involve electronic devices. But being more social has helped me the most.

I love YouTube too. These days I try to use it more for research and less for pure entertainment.
As another post said try to get out of the house more. Interacting physically with real people is a lot more satisfying than interacting with a 2D screen.

I been using Youtube more for research. I have a strange schedule for how I use Youtube. I limit myself to three hours of YouTube a day.
In my first hour, I watch Christian videos and testimonies.
The second hour is videos about hobbies or careers I am interested in animals, exercise, and writing.
The third hour is just random after that I am done with Youtube and focus on other things.
I sometimes add an extra hour which is exercise videos I work out with the instructors on screen.
I also give myself a pleasure day where I do nothing but watch Youtube this is usually Friday, Saturday, or Sunday my relaxation days

This works for me I know everybody is different so it might or might not work for you. I was wasting lots of time on Youtube and this schedule I set up really helps me.

I literally uninstalled it on my device, and blocked everything on my laptop and I use newPipe as alternative whenever I need use YouTube, it's completely procrastination free, and absolutely life changing.
