Yo Goon's in this bitch

    What's good fellas. So about 18 days ago, after sifting through my steam library for the 763 time, I stepped back and realized, wow, I'm a lazy piece of shit. I was spending way too much time wasting away on the internet and video games, and I came to realization that porn was one of the big issues, although I don't believe it to be the primary issue.

    After getting this wake up call I sprang to action and started forming some changes. I've decided that along with kicking the cheap dopamine blasts I received from porn, I was going to do the same for sites like reddit and youtube too. Along with that I'm making the commitment to get myself back into great physical condition, and attempting to vastly increase my productivity in school.

    It's a tall task, but I'm in the middle of a blast of a motivation unlike any I've had before. It has lasted for 18 days now and it's still going strong. I have the confidence that I can successfully tackle these issues alone, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to set up some fail safes in accountability. So hello brothers and sisters! Lets beat the hell out of addiction!

  2. There was a time in my life where I've only played video games and used pornography/masturbation to go to sleep. I stepped away from this life 4 years ago, and I never looked back. Life is truly better now.

    I'm in college currently and have a bright future ahead of me. Meanwhile my friends, who just play video games and smoke weed (skip class often), are now scrambling to write a resume. But remember, improving yourself is a lifelong process.

    Start small. Cut video games out or limit it out slowly. Stopping all at once maybe to much for some. It took me a while before I kicked these habits.

    Games are a leisure activity that I really enjoy, so it's not my intention to get rid of them completely. With that said I felt like I needed a swift kick in balls to get me going, so I cut them completely in the beginning. Now I'm reintroducing them as a reward for getting my shit done. So far it's going pretty well for me. Thanks for your 2 cents I appreciate it.

    Keeping myself busy and avoiding wasting too much time on the internet has been successful so far. I kinda had a snapping point, and I'm at a point mentally where I feel like I could conquer anything. I've blocked certain sites and installed the panic button, but honestly haven't really had to use it yet. So far after 18 days my will hasn't dropped to a point where I would consider going back. I kinda half hardheartedly tried this like 2 years ago, but failed miserably. Now is a very different story though, like I said I'm just incredibly motivated. You seem pretty popular here, so you have any advice?

    Welcome to the community. You will find a ton of support here.

    Some of the things I recommend:

    - Start a journal in the appropriate section.
    - Create a set of rules for your reboot along with some goals.
    - Create a plan of action that you can enact immediately without thinking when you feel
    triggered. This can save precious seconds.
    - Identify your triggers. If you know what they are, then you can start your plan of action before
    you become very triggered.
    - While you are journaling, make sure that you analyze your thoughts and feelings on a daily basis. Ususally, you can discover things about yourself that can help you be successful.

    Now if you do relapse, don't be hard on yourself. Learn from the experience, analyze and change your plan of action. Then you can consider yourself successful as well. Remember, take one day at a time and be patient. This is a long and difficult journey but one well worth taking. It is encouraging that you are realizing you have this issue at such a young age. Your future self will thank you for taking this step.
