I read that doing cognitive behaviorial therapy would help lose fear and anxiety and by Exposing yourself to what you fear it would make you lose that fear. For me the fear is being gay or trans. So should I expose myself and let the anxiety build and drop without masturbating or trying to convince myself that I am neither gay nor trans.
The immersion techniques in cognitive behavioral therapies require a little know-how at least, a practitioner at best. That said it can work very well depending on the topic, and, also, very much depending on whether the fear is a symptom of something else or an object in itself. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that's where my theorical capabilities end on the matter. Would you be able to have a few sessions with a therapists that uses these techniques? (My ex-gf was a psychologist and used those with her patients, and often told me that it all it takes is a couple of sessions.)
Mmm, doesn't sound like a very sound idea. Decades ago, they would use techniques like this to try to "turn gay people straight". I do thinks It is probably natural to have some questioning feelings, even if you are basically straight. But I think the whole thing gets clouded if you are heavily immersed in porn, since most of us escalate into genres we previously had no interest in. Just take some time off porn, and try to be true to yourself.
