Interested to hear both from those who eat before working out and those who don't. I am a morning workout guy (before I go to work). Most of the time I have worked out fasted but then I read someone who said you need to eat protein before you lift and a substantial amount at that (50g). I tried that for a couple of weeks and things just weren't going that great. So today I went back to working out with only my morning coffee in me (black, spiked with creatine and BCAAs) and it was a whole different and better thing. So for me I've found the answer but I know everyone is different so what have others experienced? Disclosure: 56 yo, 6 feet, 182-185 lbs, 13-14% bf if I had to guess. Work out 3 days a week with hybrid sessions of free weights and calisthenics (40-50 mins) plus 1x a week sprint intervals and medium intensity yoga and/or stretching on off days. I've been serious about my lifting and nutrition for about 5 yrs now.
