Andrea Dworkin got some, Anita Sarkeesian got some, JK Rowling got some. Porn wouldn't be what it is today if not for men orgasming from women's pain and degradation. It's men chosing to use porn, and experience their own sexual pleasure because of, not in spite of, women's humiliation how porn became the giant it is today.

Yes, because women are putting up with less and less, feminism taught women they shouldn't have to deal with emotional pain, abuse and sexual dissatisfaction just for the sake of being in a relationship. Feminism taught women to prioritise their own basic needs for inner peace and physical safety, which men have been doing for centuries and didn't even stop at, but also prioritised their comfort and egos above everything else.

Feminims taught women to look for men who are emotionally mature, respectable, good sexual partners and whom they are physically attracted to. But unfortunately the vast majority of men don't meet those criterias, and still expect that women will like them despite all their blatant flaws and inflated sense of self-worth.

 

I think Anita Sarkeesian didn't deserve a tiny fraction of the hate and vitriol she got. Not when they are people far more deserving of said vitriol, like Carl Benjamen. Just the fact that a woman got so much hate for doing something as mundane as criticising games from a feminist angle, proves how prevalent and accepted misogyny is in our society.

She did more than criticize. She directly caused game developers to sabotage themselves in order to appease her. The main example of this is Dishonored 2 and the idiotic story of that, and the ensuing spinoff that ruined the character of Billy Lurk, but there are many more I could name. The irony of the feminist movement as it applies to videogames is that feminism claims to be about women choosing for themselves, yet Anita attacked female characters for being too sexy, being too traditionally feminine, basically for being anything that didn't appeal to her. Now as a result we have games companies making their female character models less attractive on purpose even if the real life human they scanned for the face model was good looking. How is it feminist to make a woman ugly? How is it feminist to turn female characters into clones of men?

She basically wanted an agentic female role model for girls to identify with. Instead of the passive portrayals that only put women in subservient roles. If you understand why men are upset with the barbie movie you should also understand Anita's motives. Basically the same thing that feminists do with pornography.

Good, it was time for developpers to take into consideration the fact that they should stop perpetuating the old patriarchal dogmas and maybe take female gamers more seriously, even god forbid make video games cattered to them.

Liberal feminism is what embodies this irony, not radical feminism. One of the main difference is that we don't put this notion of choice as the sole criteria through which something can be considered emancipating or not.

Yet again, none of this explains the insane vitriol that ensued, and the endless abuse she went through as well as the rape and death threats. The only way to explain it would be that men who were too accustomed to video games being an all boys club couldn't stand the fact that women had their own input and remarks about the hobbies they enjoyed. They wanted video games to be their all macho space where they can freely express their toxic masculinity and misogyny without anybody pushing back against it.

 

Lol, not at all. We will still look for decent men to fulfill our sexual and emotional needs, as well as found a family with. Patriarchy created an artificial environement in which our options to survive without men and have our own stable income were pretty much restricted, which made it easy for any man who had the ability to earn some money was 'good enough', any man who wasn't a violent wife beater was 'wonderful'.

Now that these restrictions have been lifted, the selection power is back where it should always have belonged to, in the female's hand. Instead of men taking what should always have been a female advantage and claiming it their own in order to keep our standards as low as possible and to maximise their own benefits as a class.

It doesn't matter if not everyone of us finds a mate, what is important is for the men who are empathic enough to be decent fathers and husbands to become so.
