    Hi,

So I am a christian, but thing is, honestly I am not disgusted by watching porn, I force myself not to think about it or watch, but honestly I like it, we christian should be disgusted by sin, porn is sin, so why arent we disgusted ?

    Br,

  2. P has been normalized in our society. The Christian community has largely severed its connection its source of power and thus forfeited its leadership position in the world. It is dragged along wherever the world goes. Far from being a help against and a protection from sin, the church (small "c") is often a hotbed of it.

P has become normalized in your own mind. You have allowed it in, given it fertile ground in which to grow, and nurtured it into full bloom. It is a green, thriving weed in your brain. Its roots run deep into your soul. Your heart has become tainted by it and now even enjoys P's sickly sweet allure.

We must learn anew to hate what God hates and to love what he loves. Every P performer is a human being made in God's image and greatly loved by him. We err greatly to turn them into objects to sate our own selfish pleasures. Our sight is so dimmed by constant exposure to P that we can no longer see rightly what is good and what is evil. We need to cry out to Christ to save us from ourselves and from this world. He can and will restore us, if we are willing to submit to his discipline. It is hard, but there is Life nowhere else.

Learn to see the world through his eyes once more, and you will indeed begin to see P for the horrid, warped thing it truly is. It will sicken you and sadden you as your heart heals. This is one indication we have that our hearts are moving ever deeper into the Kingdom.

Christianity, Judaism and Islam, consider P and M a sin. Right?
If the majority of Christians, Jews and Muslims were disgusted with seeing P, this would be over long ago ...

P is made to be addictive, to be attractive, to be pleasant. We have all fallen numerous times for these reasons. Obviously there are those who are more attracted and those who are less, but the basic principle is that of attractiveness and the circle of addiction (explained by numerous scientific, neurological and psychological studies).

And that is why the effort and the struggle are so difficult.

  4. Some sin is disgusting. Some sin is not disgusting. Was it disgusting when Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? I think "disgusting" is the wrong verb there. It was a sinful, wrong, morally bad act that has resulted in a whole lot of misery. But there was nothing wrong with the tree. If anything was disgusting, it was Adam's heart. Yes, all porn is disgusting in the sense that it is based on a horribly flawed view of humanity and intimacy during its production. But what it displays on the screen, which to be sure is an absolute lie, seems to be beautiful intimacy. Isn't that what's so deceptively attractive about it? And then there's the addictive element that messes with our brain that Stommy mentioned. Tao is right: for those of us who are still in this addiction, our consciences are seared, and the fact is, we aren't seeing rightly or thinking clearly. Only after some degree of freedom in recovery will the disgustingness of porn be made absolutely clear and obvious.

  5. You are absolutely right: The source of disgust is the condition of our own hearts. To think that it is in even this state God that embraces us to himself, snot and vomit and slime and all -- it is more than I can bear to meditate on for very long. It makes my heart just about burst to think about being loved in this way. THIS is why God alone is worthy of our everything. There is no love like this anywhere else in the entire universe. All love that looks like it or bears its true imprint originates with him. Amazing!

It should be no surprise that the devil makes sin attractive. How else would he manage to tempt us? The devil's greatest trick is to convince man that he doesn't exist and that nothing is sinful. Of course, Our Precious Lord wants something much better for us than a life focused on the wages of sin. He said that when we look at a woman with lust in our hearts we have committed adultery. He didn't make this clarification to control us for His own sake. He did so because there is no lasting happiness to be found in adultery or any other sin. Our Lord wants us to find eternal happiness for our own sake.

How many burgeoning relationships have ended in heartache because of adultery? How many famous hollywood stars have ended their marriages with a messy, hateful divorce which stemmed from adultery? How many families have been broken because the parents cheated and ultimately grew to hate and/or distrust one another? How does a wife or a husband feel when they find their spouse regularly goes on line to lust after others? What is attractive and beautiful about being heartbroken and unhappy? Society says these things are natural and just part of life but they are all choices not inevitability.

  7. Believe it or not, I am disgusted by porn. It's just a bunch of infections, crime, and sin.

We are disgusted by eating rotten meat for example so thats why it is easy not to eat rotten meat, so why couldnt the same be with watching porn ?

  9. P is more like a hot fudge sundae. Just as bad for you as rotting meat, but it sure tastes sweet in the mouth -- even if it does turn to ashes in the stomach!

P is one of the devil's temptations and God has allowed the devil to roam the earth with it for a reason. God doesn't toy with man, His arrangements have a purpose.

I don't think man can fully understand the mind of God but here are some possible answers to the question of why God allows us to be tempted. Perhaps God allows it so that we may learn to put our trust in Him and to learn to call on Him to fight for us. After all, if we don't choose God but rather choose to rely on humanity or satan, why would we belong in God's kingdom in heaven?

Another reason may be that learning to fight temptation and allow our spiritual selves to overcome our animalistic corporal selves is a means to prepare for heaven. A throughly corrupted sinner who rejects God even upon death might find heaven to be their hell and of course they would be a pollutant to heaven's beautiful environment of peace and love for others.

I am not a trained theologian, so there are probably many better answers to the question of why God allows the devil to tempt us with P. These are simply my thoughts on the matter.

Keep questioning, it is healthy to seek understanding but when you are presented with an answer that has merit don't reject it for the sake of clinging to the questions.

To make it more clear, devil cannot temp us to eat rotten meat, we will be automatically repelled disgusted, no effort to do this, so why cant it be the same with porn, I mean honestly I enjoy it, though knowing it to be sin and will get you condemned if you continue, as is written fornicators will not enter heaven.

  12. To be a disciple is to deny yourself. If you never need to put in any effort in doing so, you are already perfected. (I have never met such a person.) This life is a struggle and a battle. The fight is certainly easier when there is no fight (e.g., rejecting rotten meat), but we do not know we truly belong to him until we wrestle through denying ourselves some thing that seems good (e.g., the hot fudge sundae or P). If we cannot leave off sin for Christ, how will we ever move on to giving up things that are actually good (sleep, food, comfort) for his sake?

I did pray to be disgusted by porn like we are disgusted by eating rotten meat but it doesnt work, wonder why ? If we are disgusted by porn we will not sin no more in porn.

  14. What do you think God desires? For us simply not to sin (i.e. go our own way) or for us to choose him above all others? If nothing else appealed to us, we would choose him by default. He wants us to want him even when there are other things we might seek instead of him. It is the same with any love relationship.

I have committed to my wife and now desire her above all other women. Today this is easy, because I have eyes for her alone, but once it was very hard, because my heart and eyes were unfaithful and wanted other things. God just wants the same fidelity from us (and more!) as we would give to a spouse. It must be a choice, and for the choice the be genuine there must be real alternatives -- or at least alternatives that seem to us to be on the same footing as God's offer for new life and inner peace. (Of course, the reality is that nothing can compare to him. :) )
