Why are we called Fapstronauts ? - What's the link between those who stays away from P0rn Masterbation Orgasm and those who travels to Space ( Astronaut ) ?
Our abilities "blast off" when we get rid of the limitations that porn brings. It's like we're trapped on an empty rock and we wanna get out there and explore! We want to experience the real world, real relationships, and real love. The mainstream is full of pro-porn and pro-masturbation messages, we're pioneers of experiencing the world it should be experienced. Through our eyes, not through a screen. You need to overcome a lot of fears to go to space, and you need to overcome a lot of feelings to give up PMO.
The term refers to the pioneering spirit of abstinence to pornography. It assumes that close to all people watch pornography content and we NoFap participants are pioneers just like astronauts.
I always kind of went with the assumption that the rocked in the logo is a reference to a male penis and it lunching in the space represents recovery from PIED. I have no actual idea though, maybe it does not have any logic to it, they probably just needed some gimmicky branding and this is the best thing they could come up with. I agree, it is a little bit cringe.
Ever experienced the pull after a relapse? We need to escape that gravitation from our source of lust in the same way an astronaut in his rocket needs to overcome the gravitation of planet earth. I think there is great symbolism in the picture and word 'fapstronaut'.
You’re soaring to new heights. It represents a process that, in history, took years of tests, research, and resources to even reach outer space. The Space Race wasn’t an instant process, but neither is quitting porn. Also, fun observance: the smoke cloud says PMO. In essence, we’re also leaving PMO behind.
The literary artist in me is intrigued with the various interpretations projected onto this symbol. Wish I could say “in B4 ITS A DIIIIIIIIICK!!11!” but I can’t. Launching out of brain fog? Noice.
Found this thread, from Nov. 2018. For the record, @IGY didn’t like it then, either. But they do point out, like @Evig Faith said, if you look close “PMO” is in the cloud.
The "naut" suffix has nothing to do with outer space. It comes from Greek "nautes" meaning sailor. You might be familiar with the Argonauts (sailors on the ship named Argo) or nautical ("sailor's") miles. Astronaut means "star sailor". So "fapstronaut" would be a "fap sailor" so an actual sailor who faps or someone who surfs the internet for pornography or someone who travels on a ship that's powered by guys jerking off below deck? Maybe. However given the space-themed logo and the similar pronunciations of "astro" and "fapstro", it's safe to say that's where the name comes from. And it is total cringe lol.
Apparently "gastronaut" is a real-ish word, used to describe someone who is really into food. No matter which way I look at it, it doesn't sound like "fapstronaut" is a guy who wants to stop fapping, more the opposite
