I watched porn and masturbate for about 15 years.

So three years ago when I was doing NOFAP, my life changed in one month. Colours came back, my brain started working, I became active, happy, alive, creative and depression disappeared.

After this good period I went back to porn again and then my addiction progressed a lot even to the level that I was showing myself on the web cam and went for prostitute few times. Also my fetish for pantyhose has born.

But this year when I left porn for 150 days, I didn't see almost no changes. My brain doesn't start to work and I am everyday depressed, lazy, angry, lusty all the time and have strange fears. My mind always is thinking how to do something crazy in reality. For example I have perfect wife that I really love but my mind wants to go for prostitute. So after 150 days my condition is pretty same as I was watching porn all of these 150 days. And It is so hard to do nofap when I don't see any good changes...

Does anybody has same experience when it seems that nofap doesn't work?
What is going on with that brain?
Is this because my addiction really progressed?
How long I need to live without porn that I would see any result?
Does all of these symptoms means that my brain is healing?

I would be grateful for you answers.

What is going on with your brain? If you are abstaining from all sexual activities - sex, masturbation, edging. Then your brain is being rewired and you just need to be more patient. I've come across unexpectedly long periods of withdrawals myself but things do get better. Stay strong.

The road to recovery is different for everyone. The time is dependent on how long you have been addicted, and how old you were when you started. For some people it takes 3 months, some people it can take a year or two. The best advice I've heard is to start living the life you want.

Also, your anger, depression and laziness, etc may be the result of a flatline. These are a natural part of recovery and a sign of your brain healing.

Just be patient, my friend. You will recover in time.

  4. I think more superficial changes make more of an impression in the beginning, and to me changing your behavior, no PMO is just that even though it does give you relief and it's refreshing when it's new. But it just doesn't go that far. Here's how I see different levels of change from more superficial to deeper:

    1. Your behavior
    2. Your mind
    3. Your self
A lot of people probably are around 1 and 2 somewhere, but without going through all three there's a chance it won't hold.

Should I really try to live without sex with my wife until I heal? even if it would take two years?
Is that possible for a married man?

The problem is that it is very hard to start living the life I want when most of the time I am depressed, lazy, angry, lusty and with brain fog. :) And sometimes I lose hope when it seems that this flatline will last forever.

It won't last two years. You are too young for that. You don't really have to answer this question now. Just give it all you've got and go for 200 days streak. Then with newly acquired clarity think again.

Are you doing any activities which spike dopamine like porn subs, YouTube, social media, games, gambling, alcohol, drugs etc.?

you need to cut out dopamine spikes to heal quicker
