When do you crave porn the most?

    Hi, we all have triggers or points in the day/week when we crave porn more than others Some feel unavoidable. I thought it might help if we all write down when we crave open the most and what we try to do to curve the urge.

    When my porn addiction was at its worst I couldn' go to sleep with out it. I would look at videos on my phone. In the last year' of my addiction I rarely got properly hard so I would rub my self against a soft toy infill I came.
    Now I leave my phone charging in another room and have thrown away the stuffed you (I mean why dose a grown man have a suffed you anyway).

    Im now 62 days in to my latest streak. 62 days is the longest I have ever gone (I'm going a lot further) and now I find my regular night time craving is gone. But now when ever I spend intimate time with my girl friend for days afterwords I find my self craving release, i think it' a sort of chased effect. Anyone got any tips for over coming this?

    At the weekend, especially monday. Usually I'm alone, people can't go out for a reason or another and I feel like an amoeba.

    In the mornings. When I get back to bed to just chill before going up. Been close to fail a couple of days in a row now. That is some kind of weakness for me.

    I have the same problem, it dosn't help that i get regular morning wood now. I tend to get my laptop and start browsing this forum, but im always tempted to look for something sexy.

    When I'm in bed, and not sleepy. I used to use pmo to tire myself to sleep.

    I don't dare to stay in bed if not sleepy. I get up, go to my desk and do something, work, play or anything. But I'm usually tired by the time I get to bed anyways so not a big issue.

    Any time I'm stressed and alone. I work from home, so this happens somewhat regularly. A large portion of my recovery has focused on how to cope with my stress in productive ways in that situation, and how to let the urges pass when they do come up.
     
  11. I work in a male dominated profession so I don't really see too many females during the week. I go to the gym on weekends and this is when I might see a nice figure and get cravings. Luckily I work out on sat/sun mornings when its more of an old retired crowd.

    A mixture of work stress and morning wood. I wish I could make morning wood go away it's my number one relapse cause by far.

    Before doing work or when procrastinating. I always used to do a session before doing homework, so it's a habit type of trigger... Difficult to break the habit.

    I think that's a good question, and it has made me realise that I don't think I actually ever craved it as such, it was just a habit I'd got into - usually something I'd do first thing in the morning, as part of my morning routine so to speak - and otherwise mostly just a boredom / procrastination thing. In that sense, it's no different from smoking - there's no actual 'reason' to smoke, other than what we invent ourselves ("I'm stressed", "I'm a social smoker", "I need to calm my nerves", "I've earned it", etc.), and once you step outside of that bubble, you realise how much you've been fooling yourself all along.

    So for me:

    1. When the last person in the house leaves when I'm in. The sound of the door closed within 5-10 minutes without the person forgetting something i.e. their keys or wallet. THAT triggers the biggest crave for pornography. The craziest thoughts of total isolation consume me and I end up PMOing.
    2. Being alone in general (mainly in new areas that I reside in where I'm the last one, so it could be from an event, birthday, showcase etc.)
    3. My bed
    4. Toilet - Public/Private (or if it's a Disabled Toilet, then 1. is applied but far worse)
    5. Bathroom
    6. Social Media (Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr)

    What I've learned with each is this:

    I've found making a plan for the next day including any extra activities to keep me busy. It's not likely I'll write "Masturbate to XYZ at 2pm for 5 minutes" on my plan as it's counter-productive. I used Microsoft OneNote as it's free and synchronised with all devices (or Evernote is really good too, but you can't sync with more than one device or you have to pay).

    Reduce impulse browsing online by replacing it with reading, studying, learning a new skill etc.

    In the toilet, bathroom and social media, I've learnt that those areas need it's own plan. I know that sounds silly, but knowing what you want to do while taking a dump, bathing or simply browsing reduces the chance of triggering PMO. Or if you know that having a device where you have access to internet in those areas by yourself, it's best to not take anything at all or bring a book - obviously not in the bathroom!

    Lastly, but probably the most difficult... cut off friends, celebrity accounts, organisations and the latter on social media that put out PMO content in words, pictures, video, gif, stories, PDFs... you name it. You must eliminate any matter that may seem small as it leads to PMO. You must do this. I used to follow 400+ accounts on Twitter. Now, only 150 & following more of my passion (photography). Why? I need to guard my eyes. Plus, it makes it easier to be inspired.

    I have to agree with many others on here. The feeling of loneliness and being alone in general are both strong triggers for me. My mind attempts to convince me that "Well, you're not accomplishing anything else. Why don't you have a little stress relief session?"

    That's when it's the hardest to ignore. Combined with the depressed feelings about life and you've pretty much been set up for failure. And no, having a wife/girlfriend does not help these feelings because they are rarely interested in having a good time.

  17. For me it used to be mornings and nights.

    Before NoFap, I used to do it in the morning, but even without knowledge of negative effects I could tell masturbating in the morning decimated all energy I had, and the rest of the day was wack.

    Nighttime used to be my bad habit, but now I exercise instead. I got a dip station right by my bed, so if I get the urge, I roll out of bed and slam out a few elevated pushups....and by that I mean attempt to do one, and then brus my teeth and make breakfast. But it gets my mind focused so win.

    I understand. You think to yourself why shouldn't I feel good? It' hard to remember that this comes at a terrible price!
