What's your Bumble experience?

  1. Simply reading dating bios (male or female) is likely good enough fodder to get you a consistent gig at a local comedy bar, and earn some pocket change. I'm keeping this in mind

I would be very curious to see an analyses of certain trend words/phrases in bios based on locality. I am near Toronto.
Eg. I wonder if the woman who says she keeps getting touched by men lives in a certain area, corresponding to sexual offenders, crime rates, etc.
The bios I come across haven't been really anti-male/ men-are-scum (which is nice).
I wonder if this is more prevalent around certain cities. This is where my mind goes lol

Any person who hasn't seen a monkey , male or female, probably should be off dating sites and get out more in general. Maybe the zoo LOL

I have never used a dating site, but I have read that many profiles are fake to get money from guys. They have been getting $5 from you for each profile that liked you and they could be fake. That's why you may be seeing the recycled bios, they were fake from the beginning.

Not may but most of them are . If u are looking for a long term relationship u just don't go on dating apps

  5. That makes a lot of sense. I mean, if I were in charge of such technology and had no morals, I would do the same thing. With AI and bots today, it would be very easy to collect $5 here, $5 there from lonely, hurting people.
I haven't been on it in a few days. I think the solution for all of us is to unplug and live in reality.

That's a great idea, this digital crap is killing us. We should all get out in real life and nature and live the quality life that we are supposed to be living.
    Good luck out there!

Bumble was great at the start but it's pretty stale now IMHO. It seems to attract a specific kind of woman too. Usually a bit shaken from a past relationship and is understandably very cautious about dating again. Mostly super into politics and social justice too. I've met a few women on there and they were very sweet but we're always a mismatch. I don't bother with Bumble anymore. Hinge, Tinder, and Feeld are the best I think. My best experiences have always come from Hinge.

The only positive thing I've really gotten from the apps is a realization of just how many truly gorgeous women there are in the world.

I've used the apps enough that I've literally had dozens of times when a particular woman's picture just stopped me in my tracks. Like, WOW--along with that compulsive need to know more about her, figure out how to match with her, etc.

If those type of women reject me, it still sucks, don't get me wrong--but it's much easier to shake the dust off my feet and move on when I'm well aware that there are literally hundreds (and maybe even thousands) of women out there who I could easily be just as attracted to, and who would be much better fits for me.

Also--the dating apps are women's arenas. I'm a decent looking guy--athletic, fairly charming, and at least partially intelligent--and I get a few "likes" per week. The attractive women I've matched typically have at least 600-700 likes waiting for their swipe. Men naturally tend to be pursuers--and when you add the lazy factor of being able to sit on your couch and swipe without having to do the hard work of actually approaching a woman--you start to understand why men hardly get any attention on the apps, whereas women just have to post some good pics and then brace themselves for the flood.

  10. well said, all the girls i’ve matched with on okcupid from many months ago are still online i notice. it’s an illusion to expect to find a loyal partner from there when everyone is always seeking the next best option

I download Bumble every few months, get a few matches a week, and 1-2 dates each time I go through this process. Overall I've found it to be a negative experience, though I can't deny I've met some women, gained some social skills (only when meeting them in person), and therefore grown a bit.

However, the following aspects make me think it's an overall negative for me personally.

    - I'm almost certain there's algorithm tricks going on behind the scenes. Most notably I'll always have heaps of 'likes' just before getting premium, and then it trickles down or stops completely after paying.

    - Profiles have no indication of when they were last online. Certain women really stood out and I remembered seeing their profiles before, I mean years before, with the same photos...

    - It's too much like porn, seeing attractive women on screen, the novelty of the gambling effect of not knowing what's on the next swipe, it gives me brain fog if I use it too much.

    - Finally very specific to Bumble, the mechanism of women messaging first is simply not practical. I recently had a girl 'super swipe' on me and not message. I have the feature to give them more time to message, but they usually never do.

Okay one more... People are leaving dating apps in record numbers recently, and yet premium membership on Bumble just got more expensive, and they got rid of the speed dating feature which was how many guys got most of their matches... That's my rant lol

100%, they are ultimately tech companies and they're good at getting paid. It's not in their best interest to give customers exactly what they want – instantly – for free.

  14. good post- how do you know people are leaving dating apps in record numbers btw? i myself and many friends have left them

also a girl i met on there said the dating scene today is horrible

I think it's important to remember that the scene has always been bad. Before apps, people were submitting text descriptions in free papers and you couldn't even see them lol. It's always been quite difficult if you're not in loads of different social circles or you don't approach women in real life.

Cheers man, you and your friends are not missing out on much I must say!

I was recalling a news story but I have to correct myself. The report was not referring to the number of users going down, but the share prices that have gone down significantly.

They say Match Group (who owns Tinder among others) have lost 78% value between 2021-24. And Bumble who only listed last year have lost 47%. I'm not a business man, but I wouldn't put my money there in a hurry...

I think the consensus is dating apps have no tricks left up their sleeve and are now either charging more for the same thing, or putting previously free features behind more paywalls. Or just made good features disappear like Bumble did to speed dating.

    Here's the full video.

  17. thanks for sharing! makes sense more and more guys are realizing the futility of online dating and how it creates an illusion of having many opportunities but really when someone has too much options they can’t choose
my friends have made some fake profiles as women many months ago and those profiles are still rolling in daily likes, in the thousands. regular looking women are getting 500-1000 likes on these apps, they couldn’t even reply to all the msgs if they wanted to!

Yes it's fascinating. Most guys experience is that of being invisible, and most women feel like a celebrity. Both extremes not healthy.

The fake profiles really are interesting, have seen a few video ones with average girls, above average girls where the thirst is about a crazy as expected, and some chad ones which were hilarious...

I think both guys and girls while in different extremes of success, both experience a disconnect with reality in a similar way.
