I'm new to this site, I was looking up to see if never having a wet dream was linked to never having abstained from PMO. So I found this site in the results. I'm not criticizing or trying to break any of your streaks, I was just wondering what's the point of abstaining?

Oh, for so many possible but different reasons.

Most seem to do that because they feel PMO has taken too big of a hold of their lives and they see that continuing that way won't make their life better or make themselves feel better about themselves.

If you won't find your life is worse because of fapping (as this is nofap, rather than nosex, so it's not all about abstaining from everything) you probably never will understand those who think their addiction (or just a very sticky habit) has ruined their life.

About your actual question, I don't think never having a wet dream is necessarily tied to PMO but rather due to personal properties. I don't remember ever having a wet dream, and my teen years were before Internet porn, so hadn't completely ruined my brains back then. TBH I've very seldom had even sexual dreams (those not ending up as wet dreams) and to my knowledge I was every bit as horny as other young boys/men.

Still, abstaining from other types of getting sexual satisfaction would lead your mind to get its arousal from other things and just might lead to wet dreams, if that's what you're after.

Okay, thanks for the explanation, I know that it can become an addiction for some people. I do believe it has developed into an addiction for me, but the worst that happens when I stop is minor insomnia. For me I don't believe it's destructive as I still am very sexually and socially active, I also haven't had any emotional side effects of fapping every day as some may have experienced. In the future my stance on my situation may change but for now I will continue to do as I do. I am going to continue checking this site periodically out of curiosity. Good luck to all who are abstaining and be strong!

There's a phrase in my country, which can be directly translated to: "The drunk man can see he's drunk only when he's no more able to move from the spot."
Many of us here have our share of PMO behind us, that lead us to different side effects: health problems, social problems, urge to PMO all the time,... It's hard to see the problem before it becomes a big one. There are some who decide to stop PM forever, some just want to set it to a normal level.

    Ragarding your main question,
What should be understood as "never having abstained from PMO"? We humans think and analize, we analize, make comparisons, and decisions. It's hard to determine the borders of "abstaining from PMO". But just to answer your question, I'm going to give you my personal experience: I noticed if I PMO in less than 2 hours before going to sleep, I'm not going to have wet dreams. But it's just natural to get a boner during sleep, I did my own research on this one.

Also we've had far far FAR bigger stuggles of breaking our streaks than this post. I would even say the question you put forward is a good and honest one. I like when people are hones and not judging. And I'm also open minded person that is willing to question EVERYTHING.

Thanks for stopping by and if you ever find your PMO habits problematic, check us again! We are not forcing anyone here.
