What's the difference between porn and real sex?

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Nov 1, 2017.

  1. I hear a lot about how porn is unrealistic and stuff like that but how exactly is it unrealistic. Like, can someone come up with a list of all these unrealistic qualities pron has and maybe also list their realistic counterparts? Not that I plan on having sex sometime soon but I figure it is better to know.

  2. Porn is just fantasy.

    Watching porn or filming porn?

Filmed porn uses actors who usually don't love each other, and it just feels "unreal" because of that. Also porn makes sex look attractive.

Watching porn is nowhere near natural, considering the only bond being formed is between you and a screen.

Depends on the porn. But the professionally produced stuff is about as real as any other movie production. I'll comment below based on the difference between pro porn and IRL sex. Also, I'll comment specifically about hetero stuff, just to save on typing out every potential possibility. People can extrapolate to taste.

    TRIGGER WARNING

BTW, can we just say that this whole thread is a potential trigger? Not sure I should even comment, but here goes...

The main problem is more of a difference in focus and intent, which leads people to fetishize the opposite sex in a one-dimensional way.

Porn has entire production teams that make everything look as good as possible. There are makeup experts, costume experts (as redundant as that may seem), lighting experts, sound experts, directors, editors, professional camera operators, set designers, script writers (not that you could tell), and the actors are literally experts at having sex on camera.

There are multiple takes, cuts, camera angles, and edits. It's like how some people just post the good things about their lives on social media to make you think their life is perfect. In porn they might shoot for a whole day just to have an hour's worth of finished material. Maybe in that time the guy orgasms twice, but they only keep the best shot. By the end of the day he's having trouble keeping it up, because he's sexually exhausted, despite all the drugs he's on to keep him going, so they use a prosthetic penis and fake semen to get the money shot. The woman is sore and not actually enjoying it, so she keeps thinking of how much she's being paid and knows if she quits she'll get blacklisted, so she fakes too-loud moans between gritted teeth. Ever wonder why some actresses sound kind of angry? Yeah, they're probably not having a good time.

IRL, sometimes sex just isn't all that great, even if you really like each other and are mutually attracted. Maybe one of you is tired, or stressed, or just having an off day and can't really get into it. Then the other person wonders if you're not into them and feels rejected. Maybe you've jumped right into sex after a long day and there are bodily smells that aren't especially sexy. Maybe someone ate something earlier that is still on their breath. You don't say anything, because you know they'll get upset if you mention it, but it's putting you off.

Porn women have sex skills that regular women don't. Might be controversial to some, but it's absolutely true. I won't say how I know. In any case, a HJ IRL usually feels worse than what you can do yourself. BJs are hit and miss. Some women get cramps in their jaws and aren't eager to give them, or if they do, you know they're not into it because they're cramping up, so you just skip it.

Porn also leads to both men and women IRL feeling like they have to perform to that kind of standard. Men have to stay hard and thrust away for long periods of time, always being perfectly sexually dominant (or whatever), while women feel less attractive by comparison to porn actresses, because all their flaws are exposed without the benefit of studio-quality enhancements.

IRL, the majority of women regret casual sexual encounters the majority of the time, even if just mildly. There's none of that in porn. In porn it's like every encounter was the best thing ever and conscience, pride, morality, love, etc. have no bearing.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of things. This was quite difficult to write. Thankfully, I'm not remembering details vividly at all.

The difference is much more on the psychological and emotional level: one of porn's many attractions (for the user) is that it is exploitative and non consentual (in terms of the target's choice). It is also immediate, of infinite variety and almost limitless in terms of scope and sometimes scale.

The difference is like comparing an enormous banquet with every type of food available in unlimited amount at no cost .......and a can of beans (one that you have to go and buy and then find a can opener that works)

P is a chemical hit on the brain for users, it has no intimacy, P is moving pixels on a computer monitor, it's not real. P scenarios are often so unrealistic, your partner is rarely going to bring her best friend with them to sleep with you and then invite her Mother along too!

Real intimacy with a consenting partner is also a chemical hit on the brain but you are naturally bonding with a consensual partner. A natural healthy sex life with an intimate partner strengthens other aspects of the relationship. I can't remember a P video clip asking me if I want a coffee afterwards!

Consensual intimacy with another human being (does not have to be a life partner) will also give a chemical hit but it is still real.

  9. Not that annoying fake stuff they do in P. I had to mute it half the dang time just to watch. Real sexual sounds are much more appealing I think.

Some do some don’t. But not usually as much as the women during porn. I think as a woman the big difference I see is that porn is mostly about the mans pleasure. And real women rarely look like porn stars.

Hire a female prostitute and a male prostitute. Ask them to have sex while you watch. That's porn.

From this understanding you can figure the rest out.

  13. Having had an intimate relationship in my life i can say from experience that the 'act' of viewing porn or 'PMO' is far removed from the real thing. Porn is instant, no preparation needed, and porn doesn't suddenly turn round at times and say 'you know what, i'm just not in the mood' there is also no end to porn and the variety, whereas with a partner, well you have a choice of take it or leave it. Then there's the added challenge of gaining a partner in the first place, gaining their trust and their consent built up over a series of dates or encounters before finally reaching a mutual understanding of both of your intentions.

Real sex involves touch, smell, communication, foreplay, fun, trust, respect, boundaries, intimacy, sometimes awkward or embarrasing moments which can be funny or terrifying depending on the sense of humour.

Porn involves, clicking a mouse on a computer screen with one hand and er...something else in the other. The act of viewing porn only serves as instant gratification, there is no 'other person' to interact with or respond to your actions. It is like being hungry but only being satisfied by looking at pictures of food.

    Uh, everything…
Porn is not real for the viewer in the sense that it is taking place on a screen.
During real sex you experience physicality.
Porn is an illusion. The girls in porn look a certain way, but in real life, these pornstars don’t look so glamorous.
In porn sex, sometimes you have these TRIGGER WARNING: orgy scenes with one guy having sex with 2-5 girls at a time. I mean come on.

I know guys who've done this in real life. A couple for real, and a few just with hookers. There are no activities in porn that do not also take place in real life. On the question of whether porn imitates life or the other way round I'd definitely go with porn imitating life.

  16. It's a trigger for some but if you see Hot girls Wanted: Turned On you'll see how unrealistic it actually is. There was this one scene that took a whole week to film, but the way it was filmed made you think it happened in just one day. Directors are in control, the people having sex aren't doing what they want to. It's retake after retake until the director is happy. Directors edit out things they don't like. Really if you try to act out a porn scene irl it would be like trying to sprint a marathon. Obviously I'm talking about the professional scene, if it's a truly amateur it might be different. But I would say even with amateur you can edit stuff out and do retakes.

    I could write more explicit
I could write more explicit details about how it’s unrealistic. It doesn’t matter if some of us have had threesomes or not. They’re not going to be like the ones in porn. Even if there are some similarities. Sure yes in porn people have sex and in real life people have sex, but otherwise it’s not the same at all. It’s almost a stupid question in a way, because it’s like if you can’t figure out the difference, then that’s a problem in itself.

    Sorry this is nonsense.

If I paid for a few prostitutes to have sex with me in an orgy and I filmed it - how would that be different from porn? That is, err, porn. That is EXACTLY how porn is made.

Porn does not exist in a different universe. Porn stars are real people. Porn is part of the sex continuum in reach of anyone with the financial wherewithal to afford it, or the attractiveness to star in it.

Are you kidding me!! ... How the hell am I going to answer this... Surely that's not hard to work out... One is with a computer or smartphone wasting your sexual energys to a... thing... & the other is with a real person...
