What do you think? : A Discussion of Morality and the NoFap (questions within thread)

Discussion in 'Porn-Induced Sexual Dysfunctions' started by Kaladin504, Jul 24, 2020.

  1. Lol, I am sure that this is not true. Nofap as an entity has never preached this exact statement. I don't think that you can equate the statements of some users to the whole of nofap!

  2. Nah I know prohibition doesn't work but I mean why if something is so harmful should we allow it to keep getting produced? Government creates a war on drugs then takes the reigns on the production. Can't rely on them just more discourage the use would be good. Its just a nice thought that it would have been harder to get ones hand on it as a younger self. Dreams are free my friend.

There was a surge of Sexual Exploitation around 100 years B.C. or so. Prostitution was at it’s peak. Fornication, extremely taboo things going around.
There was this book written about it, containing accounts of many events.. I can’t recall its name.

This is where Religion Comes in. If you tell Majority(certainly beyond half the population) of the people that such activities are ruining their lives, and that their next generation is being affected by these, they won’t understand it’s significance and in Adamant Idiocy, Continue performing such Activities. Instead if you say, “The Almighty has Spoken, he hath Declared that Such Activities doth Send you to this Horrendous place called ‘Hell’ where Thee shall be damned to a demon”,

People will get scared, and bow.

That’s why ‘Ethics and a Sense of Morality’ are needed. They help keeping the majority of the people who refuse to think and understand the consequences of their actions, From going Astray. Hence, save the doom of humanity(That’s too much lol)

    So, yes ‘Ethics are NECESSARY!’
I would still be here, as I feel that the consequences of MOing in no way, point in a healthy Direction And in No way accentuate a person’s progress.

Porn photos and videos have not existed for centuries. They differ in kind and quantity from the sexual imagery of the past. The old imagery was symbolic while the new imagery is a recording of light via the photographic process - a simulation. Their functions were also different within their cultures, the old images were usually tied to their religion, and, in most cases, used differently than people use porn imagery today. Can you make an argument that porn is beneficial in any way? Can porn do anything better than a real relationship?

Everybody is controlling part of the world and it's ways to some degree, parents influence kids, peers influence peers, that's why you picked up an accent without even trying - you were controlled and influenced beneath your conscious will.
This brings the argument back around to "To get addicted to them and destroy your own life is a different thing altogether." None of us were warned about porn, we learned it's harmful effects via personal experiment, but the book from 1842 shows us that this did not have to happen - we could, and should have been warned.

It's the same thing as saying that pmo destroys lives. It destroys lives via the process of the genitals. If we just looked at sexual imagery without touching our dicks you would have an argument, but that's not how it works. If you are going to deny the truth of what I say then you must specifically state what you think is the real truth. Then we can compare the arguments. "lol" is just posturing, rhetoric. How is what I have said ridiculous. You don't know that pmo fucks up body and brain?

Require a warning label by law on every porn site like they do with cigarettes, even softcore, camgirl strippers, cartoons etc, saying that pmo causes mental and physical harm, along with a mandatory link to nofap and "Your brain on porn". Then we'll see what the fuck happens i.e. watch their numbers drop.

I was going to let this one go. You think that pmo is a problem of "dopamine" or "dopamine addiction". Dopamine, in itself, doesn't have the power to make anyone addicted to anything. If it was just an issue of dopamine you could easily replace a harmful addiction with a useful one: become addicted to math, or solving medical problems etc.
In the acronym 'pmo" the most important letter is 'o', the second most important is 'm'; but, why should the 'o' be so important if it's just a problem of dopamine? Most people here are addicted to 'pmo', lots of people are addicted to 'mo', but almost no one is addicted to just 'p', because stimulation of the genitals is important to produce physiological changes in the rest of the body, and that effects more than just dopamine. The 'o' is so powerful that after it happens interest in porn ceases, or is reduced, for some amount of time; whereas, watching porn by itself isn't that stimulating, which is why people can relapse and only watch porn - without touching themselves - for an hour, but not feel like they have to call it a relapse since they feel little change, but, if they pmo or just mo to completion in but a few minutes the mental and physical change is undeniable. There are also wet dreams, where there is no genital stimulation before 'o', and everyone knows that's not the same as mo - although there is a more mild change felt the next day - because the dick and balls are important - why do I even need to say this? The body calibrates itself through orgasm, optimally via real sex, secondarily via wet dreams, or unhealthily through masturbation.

(I will cheerfully ignore the debate before me.)
I would still go on the journey anyway even if I didn't feel physical pain or numbness, simply because in order to deal easily with my abuse I need to detach from any kind of sexual content. Plus, P/fantasies makes it easier to seek more and more extreme content, out of curiosity or need for "more" : if I would have continued, I would be probably seeking for violent bdsm content in no time.
That said, I think one needs to not focus their whole existence on their primitive needs, since we have a conscience and have evolued past animal reasoning. PMO comes from instinct- thinking about it all day/centering your life around it can't be healthy in this age.
