There is no question that I have been dealing with ADD/ADHD and mild depression for a long time now. Ever since I can remember, I have had a very difficult time paying attention, and nothing really ever peaked my interest. I have a difficult time even paying attention during conversations, as I constantly wander off in my own little universe.

However, I'm not sure this was always the case. I tend to blame porn for this; has my dopamine reward circuitry been overwhelmed by the stimulus of porn to the point where I cannot feel pleasure/ find anything else interesting?

Conversely, I sometimes wonder if the opposite applies; does the euphoria porn creates act as a much needed stimulus to my under-active brain? Is that why I've become so addicted to porn?

It's enough to drive someone insane!

Although not completely clean --I still slip every once in a while--, I have made major progress from the days of watching and fapping every single day. I hope one day to get rid of this mental poison once and for all.

My question to everyone is this: Do you think some people are more prone to porn addiction than others? (i.e. ADHD, Depression sufferers). Or does the porn itself possible causes these mental disorders? How many of you suffer from these plights?

Great post, with good questions. I have adhd, have suffered head injury and have been through re-hab for drugs and alcohol. What i've learned from my process of cleaning up has been the necessary process of calming my 'craving brain'. These days as part of my life in recovery I place a great deal of emphasis on remaining as ground as possible, living moment to moment when achievable.

I have read in recovery literature that there is a correlation between adhd and addiction.

What works for my is 12 step meetings, managing my carbohydrate intake and daily mindfulness meditation. For this I use the Headspace app for guided meditations.
Today, about my life I can say that i've been finding what i've been looking for.

    Keep posting

I have heard that some people are born with a higher tolerance for alcohol and are more likely to be alcoholics. Maybe it's the same for us. Something in our genetic makeup makes us addictive to porn easier than other people. Of course I won't actually believe there is until a good study has proof to support that hypothesis.

Have you taken any tests? I thought I had ADD in college when it seemed like for years I was having harder and harder time remaining focused, but turns out it was just regular old anxiety

I had mental fog before my reboot. It made it pretty hard to concentrate. It was caused by mineral deficiency and low testosterone...mostly zinc and magnesium I think. Yours could be other minerals cause I don't think I had adhd.
