    All,

For about a week, I've been trying to decide on what combination of Porn stopping software I want to use. I've seen lots of threads on suggested items, but I haven't necessarily seen a comparison table for users to make an informed decision on what combination might work for them. I am willing to build such a table, I just wanted to ask if anyone knew of one that had already been built.

I'm currently using OpenDNS, with a possibility of adding accountability software. Personally, I like the idea of having to choose not to see it and being told on over just not being allowed to see it.

Additionally, as I have both and iPhone and an iPad with cellular, I've had to do a lot of research to find a solution that works well with the platform. Unfortunately, it appears there is nothing that will be a surefire thing due to the way iOS works. Nearly every option works with a custom browser, and if I disable Safari, I lose some functionality in iOS (such as the ability to click-open links in emails). Thanks for the help in advance.

    Hi there,

I use Covenant Eyes, which sends accountability reports to my wife. In a nutshell, Covenant Eyes is *fantastic* for your Mac or PC. I truly, honestly cannot remember the last time I looked at, or even attempted to look at, P on my computer.

...the phone is the bugaboo of it. What I want for my phone is accountability software that monitors my internet activity on all apps while allowing me full phone functionality. Unfortunately, at the present moment, that doesn't exist. My wife has a restrictions code that keeps me from downloading applications, I have Safari disabled, and I use the Covenant Eyes browser. Frankly... it kind of sucks. If I were ever in a situation where I wanted to download an app, even if it were 100% harmless, I would have to take my phone to my wife, have her unlock it, install the software, give it back to her, and have her lock it again. It would be SUPER awkward if I were in a social situation and somebody wanted me to download an app for some reason...

From what I can tell on the Covenant Eyes website, however, they are in the process of developing 360-degree phone accountability that would allow its users to keep Safari running. Hopefully it comes out soon!

I also use Freedom (freedom.to), which allows you to set block times for certain websites. Freedom is productivity software, but you can use it however you like. I use covenant eyes and freedom in conjunction with one another for maximum effect, and I am very, very pleased with it.

It really sucks that its 2017 and they haven't yet come up with total accountability for mobile devices. It's really stupid!

To clarify, the Covenant Eyes phone browser itself is actually okay. If somebody were looking over my shoulder, they wouldn't think anything of it... looks and works just like the safari browser. But, like you said, you need to copy and paste links from text messages or emails into the browser, you can't just one-click them.

I use filters on what pops up on search engines, but that's about it.

All the research I've done indicates that it is not the developers' faults. Because of Apple's sandboxing rules, it is simply not allowed for a 3rd party app to gain the ability to see what another app is doing. Until Apple decides to change the policy, they're stuck. Apple is simply not a good phone if one has a P problem. And I've been dealing with the built in content blocker's problems of considering buying a network cable on amazon "adult content..."

  6. Stumbled on this thread do you know if apple has a reliable DNS override app?...I've started to use a DNSChanger override app with Opendns 208.67.222.123 which blocks all the pornsites...I can also lock it (with a long 36 character password) and prevent it from being uninstalled just afraid my work phone the apple may now be a temptation.

Might be worth a shot, looks like it works by routing through a VPN. Interesting.
