    Hey all!

Just a bit of history - I've had my best success so far on this website. I reset about a week and a half ago, but before that had gone 45 days without a reset which was the longest ever. The reset sucks, but still pretty pleased with my progress so far.

One technique I've used that's helped is when I get the urge - I use the motivation to do something positive. Since I'm single - I used those urges to motivate me to join a dating site and try to meet compatible girls. Other times I'll go to the gym and run it out on an elliptical or treadmill. Usually I get urges when I have some idle time so I also use the urges to plan hangouts with friends or look up fun stuff to do and try to fill my schedule. I've had good success with this technique as it can be mentally distracting from the urge.

Bottom line: Don't ignore urges when you get them. Your body is telling you that you're lacking something it needs. But the need is not sexual release - it could be loneliness or lack of a sense of purpose or any number of things.

In any case this technique has been helpful for me so thought I'd share it. Feel free to chime in with your own thoughts!

    ^^This.

    Very good insight man.

However I'll try to make more of a habit of that approach. It doesn't mean you always do the same if you don't want to. But it'd be even better if you build a *defaul* action for the urge because randomly doing "something" won't always prevent you from relapsing.

In this post I explained why that's important, based on the great book The Power of Habit.
