Unstable/High Blood Pressure on NoFap

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Mar 24, 2019.

  1. Hi guys.

I started my NoFap journey on January 10, 2019.
Have relapsed a few times, so I reset my counter to 27 days (restarted on February 27).

In the last weeks, I've been dealing with anxiety and agitation.
I kinda feel hyperactive and I don't seem to relax.
I've been measuring my blood pressure for this reason and noticed is very unstable. I've never had problems with my blood pressure before, used to have 115/65 mmHg & 70 bpm or so.

In the last days, I measured my blood pressure and noticed it tends to be way higher than before and so happens to the heart beats per minute as well – e.g. 136/75 mmHg & 80 bpm. Also, when I measured it again it went lower. One time it was even 106/60 mmHg, then went up again and so on. Ironically, when I went to my doctor my BP swung between normal values of 115 and 125.
I also notice I'm kinda agitated and nervous throughout the day and I relax when I focus my attention on video gaming, making music and even weightlifting.
I also consistently increased the weight in my workouts, but I don't think that's the reason for my HBP.

I read somewhere that this could be to PMO addiction withdrawal and that this may happen when you quit some kind of addiction in life.

Has this happened to some of you?

  2. I have read in many places that eventually things go down to normal after some weeks.
If you are not PMOing your body's natural reaction will be some sort of panic. So I think your arteries will shrink for a bit for the stress and then return to normal.

HBP is less talked about in this forum but it really an issue. I developed HPB because I was fapping everyday and denying myself sleep. I got up one day with chest pains in 2016 And went to the hospital for the first time in my life they read my bp and started getting worried, I didn't know what was going on and then I started reading stuff on my phone. I came to realise I have caused a life threatening thing in my life.

The levels you are talking about are considered not dangerous. Keep checking it to be sure. Also stay away from everything that can increase it and do the things that normally reduces it like exercise etc. It will be back at normal after a while. And you will be free.
PMO is definitely a worse life to live

I had high blood pressure about this time last year when I first started nofap as well. I’m a 30 year old 190lb 6ft tall male who eats pretty decent and exercises a few times a week. I’ve never had issues before nofap with blood pressure of heart rate. There were some days I had spells of crazy heart palpitations, even woke me up in the middle of the night on night and I was soaked in sweat.

I went to the ER for this once , of course I was scared. They did blood work, EKG and x-ray and found nothing. They diagnosed me with pneumonia, and against my better judgement they gave me antibiotics to take, I do not like taking pharmaceutical drugs. I took them and a couple weeks later wasn’t feeling any better, I went to my doctor he said I never had pneumonia. He said he wasn’t sure what was wrong, maybe inflammation in the chest, and I’m stressed, etc.

I haven’t really checked my blood pressure much since. But I still do have lots of anxiety and stress filled days I didn’t used to have when I was fapping. So I don’t really think you can get high blood pressure from nofap, BUT it can give lots of withdrawl symptoms for sure, especially high stress and anxiety, which can make your blood pressure go up.

Yep, had the same feelings as well. You will be agitated for awhile. You do need to focus on some coping mechanisms for this which you are doing do that is good. Your BP will jump from time to time as well. Just focus on other activities when this happens. Sleep is disturbed as well for awhile but should resolve.

  5. Thanks so much for your replies guys.

Blood pressure + heartbeat bpm still swung a lot but way less than before and the values are pretty normal.

I've been practicing some breathing exercises lately. It seems I'm starting to relax a bit; my sleep has improved as well.

Hey man, I have been experiencing similar issues with my heart rate, shortness of breath,fatigue,light-headedness and anxiety. Went to the doctors and everything was fine on their charts. I'm very scared by this bout of illness. How are you doing now and did anything help to alleviate your symptoms? Never thought PMO could affect me like this and can't believe I may have done this to myself. I think I am wasting money but still have to go to a cardiologist to make sure everything is fine structurally.

  7. Hi man.
A cardiologic checking is never a waste of money! Even if I feel fine, I do it periodically to make sure my health is in check.

What I can say is that now my blood pressure + heartbeat rate are perfectly fine.
I noticed it is "just" anxiety. For example, I have to take 2 or 3 measurements before I get the blood pressure right, because whenever I take my pressure monitor my heart starts speeding up a lot and so the blood pressure results higher as well.

Withdrawal + semen retention certainly increase stress and anger.
I strive to stay calm. I've always got angry pretty easily and I tend to get anxious a lot.

EDIT: just noticed you were replying to @Fallensoldier1 haha but I hope I helped you anyway

you guys taking lukewarm/cold showers will help taking kinda cold green tea with honey will help calm you down, also it happens to me and I tend to forget my own advice but also posture, if you can lean back and fix posture, pressure is alleviated a little too.

  10. Anytime I go to the hospital to take my blood pressure my heart starts pumping faster the moment I see the instrument and it reads high.

But tell you guys what, you should not panic when you start reading high blood pressure. Just understand now what porn has been meaning to do to you and initiate change in your life immediately.

It very sad that a young strong man like me is in this situation. I have ruined my life but it not too late to start fighting back

@Survivor Wars How many days of nofap did it take before your blood pressure normalized ?? I'm curious. It's amazing the ignorance on the topic of masturbation
