To heal ourselves, let's volunteer some time to any NGO for sex workers, trafficking, etc.

I think the moment we contribute some of our "precious" time (pun intended) for a cause like helping lives of sex/porn workers we will automatically stop PMO & become a better soul overall. And perhaps will also learn some hard truths of life from the other side of the aisle.
I believe donating money to any charity from the comfort of our homes is NOT what will help us. Getting involved with a NGO will help us, as they say altruistic acts in-turn helps ourselves.
Frankly I think we owe them as well because its porn customers like us (even if in free porn with advertisements) who create that "demand" which end up in more "supply" of the product.

I think we can contribute in anyway with whatever skill we have. I know software programming so maybe I can contribute sometime with that, either teaching or something like that.

Of-course I won't reveal my reason to anyone on why I joined such NGO. Additionally due to ongoing pandemic I need to take necessary precautions (like masks, distancing, vaccines & avoiding crowds).

I will try to post my journey here as a NGO volunteer to inspire more people.
    Wish me luck :)

I'm not sure this is a good idea. I think donating money to charities supporting recovering sex workers is a great idea, but recovering adicts spending time with recovering sex workers sounds a bad idea to me. I think spending time on charity work is great, but I would choose something safer for my sobriety.

Do you mean by helping sex workers we might get further aroused towards porn or even worse towards the suffering woman herself ?
Well I've not yet tried myself so I'm just guessing that such possibility is very low because of following reasons:
    1) when we see & hear first hand the pain & suffering of other people our brain gets emotions of sympathy, empathy, compassion, hence there is less scope of arousing emotions at that moment.
    2) when we get busy in something, we don't get enough time for wasteful activities.
    3) altruism itself releases feel good hormones so it actually "replaces" the need of other stimulations.
    4) lastly if we do get soft heart romantic feelings towards a recovering sex worker, I understand the perceived fear of backlash from family, friends & society due to social taboo. I'm personally willing to take that risk because I don't want to fear from the perceived obstacles in the journey before even starting the journey.

But as you said; to spend time for suffering society in 'any' way is noble.
