Hey everyone. I've been meaning to make this commitment for a while now. I've even had some streaks on my own where I went about 10 days without PMO, but my backward rationale for instant gratification pulled me back down. Lately, I've been masturbating about twice a day on average, and it's destroyed my sexual health. My libido has felt so low, as does my overall drive in life. I've even been in two situations where I was with a beautiful, more than willing woman, only to not be able to perform. It's destroyed my self-confidence.

Luckily, I've mostly stopped browsing online pornography, but I've replaced it with pornographic, BDSM-related subreddits... at least I'm mostly seeing real women, but it's still wrecking my brain. I deleted Reddit from my phone 1 hour ago.

After the PMO I feel so ashamed, and always tell myself I'm going to quit, only to wake up and fall into the cycle once more. Starting now, that's over, and that's why I'm making this post. I need the accountability of like-minded people who have been through the same. Here is the start of my journey to self-improvement.

Any tips on how to move forward? My personal goal is 3 weeks (because I've heard that's how long it takes to break a habit) without PMO.

Hey brother. Welcome to the path to healing.

I have 193 days of continuous freedom from PMO one day at a time by the grace of God. Recovery is possible but it is not an easy road.

my advice, for what it's worth, get rid of all social media for good. Social media is trash. 90% of relapses start on social media. Reddit is pornography.

If youre having issues with the apps your downloading. Perhaps change the age settings in the app store, this will hide problematic apps.

    Hello and welcome!

Taking some time to learn about this problem will really help in your recovery. Plus, it will take you away from Porn for a while. Read the reboot material (available here => http://www.nofap.com/getting-started) and then come up with a plan for what you will do when you are faced with urges. It has good information and good advice, so don't skip it! :)

Also, this is a great post from a nofap veteran about what kind of things could help you during your reboot => https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/time-to-be-done-with-this.140257/page-25#post-1442099

As you start your recovery, perhaps start writing a journal? If you feel comfortable telling people about happened and what's going on now, you will start to feel accountable to them. You may even inspire others. It's a nice feeling! This will help your recovery.

Also, stopping bad behaviours is only half the battle. This fight will probably also involve a lifestyle change. So try to add things into your life that makes you the kind of person who doesn't want to engage in PMO. Think about doing:
    • Something you enjoy
    • Something you're good at
    • Something important
    • Something for somebody else, without thought of reward
Read the journals of others - we all learn from each other, and you may find very useful insights from someone outside your age group or part of the world.

Look around the forums, get to know people. Be kind to others and others will be kind to you, both here and IRL.

So here's something for you to think about - you're in a cycle. You get disappointed when you M, but then you M to deal with the disappointment, but then you get disappointed when you M. How else can you deal with disappointment other than by M'ing?

You've done some great prep work, deleting the the apps and so on. Now comes the planning side. Study the problem and see what you come up with.

Make the next choice, the right choice.

    All the best.

Yeah I have several addictions that I want to tackle, with screens (including scrolling on instagram) being one of them. I don't want to go cold turkey on everything all at once because I'm trying to be realistic, but eventually I want to stop using it as well. It does suck though because social media does have its uses. I've learned a lot of useful stuff on Reddit, for example. I agree with you though, a lot of my 1-2 day streaks have been broken because I saw some suggestive content on ig reels

Thank you so much for all the advice. I'll definitely be coming back to this comment. I want to replace M with Muay Thai training, something I've wanted to do for a while but never got around to. I think it would be a huge confidence boost. The only thing I'm wondering is: I can't possibly train every time I feel the urge, so would that make this a bad activity to replace with? Thanks

    Not at all.

Just pick something else to do, as well as your training. Add stuff that gets you engaged and happy, and away from the lube. :p

why don't you substitute the social media sites you're in with the groups here. That can have a positive effect on how to learn how to say NO......you do want change don't you...........
