I just wanted to put my two cents on here about something that I've seen a lot of and think is dangerous. I'm no behavior specialist so please don't condemn me for being too off base.

Often I see people looking to improve immediately start off with plans that are extremely demanding. The plans involve several steps that are difficult to perform and have never been tried by them. This is setting oneself up for failure, even though the enthusiasm and intention is admirable. Start with a simple, time limit based goal that you know you can easily perform, 3 days to a week is advisable and then work through it, starting a journal to your process. After you've done that, maaaybe think about doing one a bit more challenging. And only do one goal at a time! It feels agonizingly slow but that will get you the changes you want over a long period of time and not just a couple days.

I grew up and continue to live with Bipolar disorder. In an evening I can get a surge of inspiration and work super hard on something and make complex designs for my life and future. I have to force myself to step back from the intensity and take plans step by step, otherwise I am dooming myself for failure. At first what I did was just a morning and night routine and slowly added things to a daily checklist. I made the mistake of not connecting that checklist to goals, which is crucial. If you have questions, disagree, or just wanna shoot the breeze send me a message!

It may help if you could add details and specify the task at hand, the steps you have taken, where you succeeded and failed and how did it make you feel afterwards.
