Hello i have a question to ask all users on nofap. I know that you all tell about your experiences with trying to complete a recovery. I do to. All this update post and sharing advice is great to. I just think that a lot more could be done i mean it would be great and i think it would help my motivation to hear what are peoples motivations. Why are you doing it and what is exactly what you want to achieve.
It would be great to hear someone if they are willing to tell their stories. Try to really think about what real has changed during the time you have been active here. Can you think of something you have done BECAUSE of practicing nofap. Is there something that you can clearly say i did this because i nofap and i dont think i would have been able to so otherwise?

This is by the way my own motivation
Goal: Be completely free of porn. To Stop masturbating and having orgasms completely. Get a new life without slothful habits that are based on porn and masturbating. Build a better life with positive, life positive and healthy content and chase my dreams.

Just being present and less self aware. Not being anxious to talk to people. Eye Contact. Not being scared to try new things. Not getting irritated or annoyed at everything. Wanting to achieve more in my career, wanting to have more fun, wanting to lift weights, on and on and on. . .

For me, NoFap is a tool in my overall arsenal to fight porn addiction. There's a lot I've done because of the 12 steps and SAA, but specifically NoFap is a lot harder for me to find.

NoFap has probably allowed me to explore and own my childhood trauma more. Seeing the impact it had on others, I realize it is a part of me and not something I can just ignore.

    @ANewFocus
it sounds like you have faced a lot and have battled many things everyday.

i think it sounds extremely interesting that it had let you explore your childhood trauma to a positive outcome. That is a serious change.

I think that i have this thinking about nofap community as being a place where so many people are on a journey and it makes me very interested to understand what are peoples motivations - yes to break a cycle of problematic and complex problems caused by pornography. But how do you do it.

Would you share what is your motivation. I think we could all benefit from hearing what are peoples engines.

Thats a very good motivation. Exactly what i was thinking. And its so close to the core of what i think are most motivation. in one word a change.

I have memory of some of the benefits some after maybe two months. A great feeling just to feel less self aware and confident, not being afraid to speak for instance. Its only a little thing to do but it has so tremendous impact on a persons life. I have experienced that by being able to speak my mind i have gotten so different feedback from people. Like hearing i have developed myself personally.
Personally i find it very motivating.

Totally. For example— I remember wanting to run inside and close the garage when I got home. instead, I can pop out and talk to neighbors & feel comfortable doing so.

For me it started when I was unable to have erections during sex which worried me a lot. I found the Tedtalk video of Gary Wilson about this and knew that porn was causing my erectile dysfunction.

I am kind of blessed because my girlfriend then became my wife and now we are expecting a baby.

Congrats bud! It's all downhill from here...(ha. kidding) Being a father is the single most gratifying experience I've ever had, and one of my main motivations to quit P forever.

What started it for me was i was working at a restaurant. It was a short job as a trainee and it didnt go to well. But then i read about this nofap phenomenon and porn has always had a position in my life an incredibly taxing and negative one i have found out. Then after quitting masturbation and porn i have found so many benefits has an incredibly positive effect on when i work. Im way more energetic, a better coworker more talking, quick responsive. It becomes possible for me to be creative in work and not just a guy who was getting through the day despite a lot of anxiety. Now i can say my mind and often people respect me!

    ME
Uni student, addicted since 11yo. Above average looking, had multiple GFs and few one night stands, kissed with many women on parties (15-20 woman) during high school.
High school was supper chill for me, everyone was my friend (still have many friends, but no that many close friends :/ ) than UNI came, reality hit me, my addiction dragged me down, fortunately I found a GF that let's say kept me above water.

I tried to be the good boy for her having the history as a bad guy (I didn't like me back than). Well after 1,5 years of ok relationship she broke up with me for another dude, not even better looking, just older and I guess more energetic because I was so addicted I had to fap everyday twice by that point.

    MOTIVATION TO CHANGE MYSELF
This break up was the last hit for my ego, because the only thing I knew I did right was how I treat her.
I said enough and started to change my life on new year. I wasn't happy with who I was and even though my ex broke it off with me in rather unpleasant way, I'm still super grateful for her as she showed me how to become better and I loved the improvement.

    How I found NoFap?
On youtube my break up algorithm presented me a video of a guy talking about no PMO and how it changed his life, he gave a link to this website and well I started and I can't be more grateful for him. It's not even a month and I'm able to deal with everything that was stressing me in my life. Before no PMO, FAPing was my antistress, but it was also permanent escape from reality. Now I'm living my real life, even though I must face unpleasant situations I face them and I know it's the right thing, and for the first time since high-school (3years) I know my life has a bright future.
With no PMO I know myself better and I have way more energy.

Also I am now reading philosophical books and maaaaan I don't know why I haven't started when I was 16.

    Keep it up brothers.

Winters in Canada have always been a struggle in my adult years, mostly with what I believe less sunlight and less desire to go out in general and do anything, Good sleep is so hard to come by for me, as I continue to eat late in the days I think it negatively effects my sleep and then the next day becomes a bigger challenge then it has to be, and its then where the urges seem to have more power/noise.

Nothing helps block the urges like rest, healthy food/portions and exercise.

    We are stronger together.

I am doing nofap because I believe that its harmful to my body and relationships, I have heard that on our deathbeds we talk about the relationships in our lives, I want to be a husband and I want to be strong for my Wife.

Wow i finally found out how to properly quote post on this forum. Thank you for your post. And i have been dealing with more powerful feelings lately like more powerful shame and ofc irritability. But often i think what we need in our painful trials is to remember to stay centralized and respect our big needs like our emotions that regardless how less or little we succeed in nofap or challenges in life WILL be the ruling factor. so we do wisely to respect ourselves in this factor or we are going to fail. Stay strong.
