Staying home alone makes me relapse often

    Hi,

Because of lack of job right now I spend most of my time at home doing additional courses for my career. However I recently had a really bad time - when there are no family members nearby it is very easy for me to go into binge loop with porn and mindless surfing.

It usually triggers in the morning (after staying late and/or bad sleep) or during the day when I feel low energy and motivation to do my work (quite a burnout after my previous job). Dopamine cravings win and as there is nobody nearby I fap.

Right now I feel quite hopeless about that as I'm already behind schedule with my course.

Get out of the house, do anything that involves you staying outside at least 3-4 hours a day: walking, running, doing groceries, meet with friends. Learning for the job is great, but you need to also balance it out with outdoor times and socialising.

  3. My guess is you have a compelling reason to take your online course. Go back and reflect on why you took the course. Then ask why again, reflect, rinse, repeat.

Now do the same for your relapse. Ask why are you relapsing, reflect, rinse, repeat.

It's tough, just make sure you have a daily schedule for going out, best if as a reward for your self after finishing the work you've done, something to look forward to after working. It can be the gym or any group activity or taking a good long walk. Never skip on going out. If you can go out multiple times it's even better.

I usually go for a walk in the evening and agree that this it good for mental health. ;)
