I recall being married. I rarely watched TV. I PMO'd increasingly with the advent of smartphones and hi speed internet (lethal combination as we all know!) And yes when you watch porn regularly it creates a filter in your mind through which you view the world(?) And that's not healthy. At all! But my wife (and this is NOT meant to be a pointless 'sexist' or sweeping generalisation!!) watched soap operas, and appalling sh** like Big Brother and Housewives of Orange County (Orange Housewifes I used to call it!") and seemingly endless hours of ego driven drivel fuelled by the drama of dysfunctional relationships (have you SEEN these programmes?!?!?) And yet if I commented on this it was just 'escapism'. Harmless entertainment. Something to 'switch off' to. 'Me' time. Really? Perhaps we need a website called yourbrainonsoap because with hindsight the combination of a brain on porn and a brain on soap operas etc is a pretty good recepie for an unhealthy relationship? What's good for the goose is good for the gander? Can anybody else relate to this?
HOLY SHIT that sounds like my mom lol... guess when the crap goes into your head? when you're relaxed. my mom talks absolute idiocy, she can't reason at all, and sometimes acts like a child.
Soap operas and reality TV are designed to paralyze critical mind and pacify masses. No wonder they are most produced in countries like India or Mexico where you have large number of poor people who need to be distracted somehow from real problems. Instead thinking of how to change lousy system they think of some Pedro who is leaving Silvia for the last 5 episodes. Or they talk who fucked whom in big brother.
exactly... it is very evil if you think about it... they keep you dumb in a satanic matrix... we gotta stay strong and operate outside the satanic matrix and follow the law of god.
Exactly mate. I was round at a family members earlier attempting a 'conversation' but they were so fixated on the shit pouring out of the 'hypnotist in the corner' I ended up watching it with them before I came to my senses and got the f**k out!!
Very true! In most cases, they're addictive, unproductive, and are waste of time. However, for grown-up learners of another language, they seem to be good language-learning material.
