snowballing

Imagine you’re on a snowy mountain. Say, you stepped closer to the edge of it, out of curiosity. Then, you step closer, and closer, until you fall and roll along the mountain, creating a snowball that continually gets bigger and bigger the deeper you go down the mountain. Then, you crash to the bottom. I thought about this analogy and I applied it to PMO addiction. In my case anyways, it all starts out of curiosity, maybe wanting to look up celebrities because they’re attractive, or that one specific video. Then, that snowballs into M without any thought (uncontrollably rolling down) and then relapsing; crashing to the bottom of the mountain. Anything can be a trigger, so you need to be careful. I think curiosity is a factor of relapse. It’s what got me into this addiction, and its what’s been pulling me back time and time again. So, I’ll say, be careful of what you see on tiktok or instagram, or you would end up snowballing into a relapse.
