semen retention and the gym.

    Hi , been on semen retention for 87 days now.
    I definitely did feel better at first , not because it gave me superpowers or anything like that , most benefits are a placebo, I just liked not feeling like I was dependant on masturbation.

    Im wondering if semen retention is a lifelong thing , or is it used to get back on track, and fix porn addiction / other problems.

    Im thinking about getting back at it , no more than 2 - 3 times a week , not because im addicted , just relieving that stress from time to time seems nice. Are there actually any benefits for semen retention in the long run? My test has stayed the same , my sleep somehow became worse in the last couple weeks , and I have had some off days where I really felt fatigued and it might have something to do with that.

    My lifestyle is pretty healthy , I dont eat too much junk , workout 5x a week. I never noticed any significant changes with performance at the gym , at least not after a certain point.


    I think ill do nofap cycles from time to time for a couple months , so things dont get too bad. and ill be able to enjoy the benefits. I feel like at some point u just feel back to normal again.

    note: I didnt start this because I like "nofap", or think of it as an achievement, I dont track my progress or count days , the only reason I know where im at is because I started exactly at the beginning of 2023.

    Any opinions?

    If you don’t have a problem then you probably don’t need to treat it like a problem. Masturbation isn’t a bad thing, unless like many of us, you do it constantly while ingesting too much porn to sooth your stress/anxiety/trauma/etc.

    Practice mindful masturbation.

    I'd say keep going on the streak. See how you feel after a yeas. 87 days is too soon to make this sort of judgement call. Us guys on this site have most likely been masturbating for a lot of years straight, some more than others. So go at least a year, maybe 2 years, and then see how you feel. That would at least be an honest experiment because then you could compare years of your life with masturbation to years of your life without masturbation

    i agree with this i think if you already managed to get a good streak then keep going, PMO is almost like any other addiction in which it sometimes may tell you that you're okay now
    and makes you remember how relaxed and calm you were after ,but really your brain may be trying to get you hooked on the dopamine hook in disguise of relaxation
    getting out of aadiction may last as long as the addictive pattern was repited<these are just some thoughts> so try a year and for relaxation maybe try a sauna or find some other better solutions
