Relapsed ? Here's how to speed up the relapse recovery..

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Xander_, Dec 26, 2017.

  1. Relapses, ha. Ohh we all hate them, the feeling of regret, brain fog, low self confidence, hopelessness, nausea and whatnot that relapses consist. Benefits we sacrifice for seconds, minutes or hours of ugly pain packed into loathing pleasure.

Knowing that many of us here tend to misjudge relapses, i decided to create a guide to help current new and future new fapstronauts/femstronauts.

Steps on how to recover from relapse, and get benefits back more quickly:

    1st Step

    Take a Cold Shower.
    - Cold showers straight after relapse could have great impact on getting that testosterone levels back, and stacking the 'positive' levels of dopamine that pornography flushed over.

    2nd Step
    Exercise
    - Exercising has great impact on your brain and body, many studies have shown that working out helps out reducing anxiety, increases pain tolerance, decreases depression and one of important factors is - It increases testosterone levels. Which is mandatory since you probably lost many of them when you relapsed.

    3rd Step

    Get your mindset right
Many people here tend to have the "All-or-nothing" mindset. Which means if they relapse, they immediately think they lost it all. Relapses are the key points in our journey because from them, we learn the most about ourselves and our addiction. Observe what caused you to relapse, and learn from it. But once you do it, stop thinking about relapse, you must focus on keep going forward and prevent yourself from relapsing more, which brings me to ...

    4th Step
    Stop Obsessing and start living
You need to stop obsessing for how many days you are sober. If you relapse, resetting that counter feels like complete 0, not to mention some tend to value counters more than total progress. I stopped obsessing over how many days i reached and it works for me. Do not focus too hard on abstaining porn, because you'll be slave to your mind over and over again. Start living, look forward and learn something new, find hobbies, eliminate bad habits, build positive ones.

Rocket science ? Not really, its all about self discipline, that's all once you start to practice it it will effect many aspects of your life.

Also, this works for me i tested it for a while now.
A week ago, i relapsed, took a cold shower for 10 to 15 minutes, did some push-ups and went for a haircut, like relapse never happened. Day after, i went to a clothing store with my sister, and her friend that works there checked me up from head to toes and she said it out loud that i look really sexy and handsome. Few weeks before that i relapsed two times, took a cold shower, worked out a bit. Day after, went to a downtown, checked out by decent number of girls, eye contacts and so on. I was just walking by and one gave me a really long eye contact all the way until she completely lost me out of sight. A really really good looking girl. Not to mention my talking skills are still on top since i didn't stutter at all while talking. I could go on...

Now, i cannot guarantee this will work for everyone, it works for me. Hopefully it might work for someone else as well. This should not be an excuse to relapse of course, you must do your best to avoid them, but if they happen. Yes, you slowed down your progress a bit, dust yourself off, make sure to stop relapsing and keep looking forward. Good luck.

Topic might looked a bit nooby, wrote it in a hurry ..

  2. Yes. I agree.
I think what made you recover faster is you lowered your stress level over a long period of time.

I did lower my stress level for months, and my hair grew. I still have some patches, but my hair looks better.

I'm thinking if quiting the Internet indefinitely cuz I fapped 4 times today.

I relapsed 2 days ago after 52 days of nofap after suffering pied for many years. I’m 33 and felt like breaking down and crying I felt so low about relapsing to porn. I only did it the once but that once is one too many. I hope and pray and that I didn’t lose any of the benefits I gained in body and mind haven’t been lost!

  4. You won't lose all of the benefits over one relapse, but it will slow down your process. What you need to realize is that this is not a sprint, but a marathon. You learn from your mistakes, make sure you don't repeat them again, pick up and do it again.

Make sure not to relapse, and you'll get back on it again, no worries

  6. Do intermittent fasting. I remember when I did them on Days 1, 2 and 3. After that, I felt I was on Day 7.

Your mileage may vary. Maybe you'll feel better after doing IF for one day.

Also I find, vitamin c, (orange juice or apple juice) and high protein foods and zinc foods will help speed up recovery as well.
