anyone here ever been in a phase of using and not using reddit. as in I use reddit almost every day and i feel it develops as an addiction to me every few months, earlier i have gone quite a while without using it, but i end up coming back to it, and it consumes a lot of time as a result.

I need to manage my time judiciously. it's not like I use it all for trashy purposes, the SR community there seems to be much more active for reasons unknown to me.
in the first place i graviated towards the website as i had to join the nofap subreddit and i was unaware of this place.
and then even after so many quits and outs I realsized that i had developed somewhat of a liking of the +ve interactive atmosphere present at that place.
Not like this forum doesn't provide the same, it works equally well and then some more, but then I'd like to admit it wasn't designed as a social media but as a recovery forum.
I need to learn how to devote my time into more productive things rather
than using reddit, and then regretting using it afterwards

I personally deleted my Reddit account recently and am very happy with it as I also quit Reddit altogether.
I save a humongous amount of time and the temptations of pmo have faded because of it

I deleted my NSFW Reddit a few weeks ago. I do have another account but I rarely use it. I find people on Reddit to not be nice people.

You will get a more diverse array of opinions on this website, Reddit rewards karma farming. It makes sense that the SR community is more active on Reddit than on here, imo.

You have to question, is a social media good or is it simply popular because it is also a pornography website? Tumblr, for example, it had merits before the porn ban but completely died once they stopped allowing porn, meaning that people were only there for the porn and interacted with SFW content while they were there. Same with Reddit, how do you know that a person you're talking to about SR is not also watching porn in between replies? Reddit has questionable ethics. Perhaps you are a member of an anti-porn subreddit, for example, but that subreddit is hosted on a website that relies on the porn industry to stay popular. Too much of a can of worms to be worth dealing with, is it not? Why do I have to be in fear of the possibility of porn appearing on my curated feed (even with nsfw disabled)? Too much work and counterproductive to the goal of not using porn or SR.

I recommend you abandon reddit for good. I recall tons of tons of relapses and peeking/binge sessions i did in reddit. The site is filled with weirdos and people moved for upvotes, these anti-porn subs are drops on an ocean of NSFW media. And btw, the CEO of reddit supports all of that content and he doesn't pretend to ban

Reddit can be good for very specific information, but unless it’s flagged as NSFW you should be able to (if your answer to a question is on there) look at a page without logging in.

Much like Facebook, they’re all just a killer of time and only serve to drain you. At least I was a in trap before, and felt terrible.

this is very deep, never had i thought like this. i was more about just avoiding it while using reddit. hadn't thought of the same as, one preaching something on SR community can be a porn user on the same website

People who use the r/NoFap page over BoFap.con this are kidding themselves if they think they’re improving their lives. Everything meaningful dies in new, and most of the “information” being spread on there are just memes. Plus you have to deal with coomers in close proximity. Plus you’re on Reddit.

I checked the Reddit one out and it was pretty toxic, not just with peoples views but a flood of memes, and downvoting compared to here.

Reddit can be very toxic. I got rid of it including the other toxic social media (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok)

To be 100% transparent, I check a single Reddit board that's work-related but I stay away from browsing Reddit.

Every time I get to browsing Reddit, I run into triggering content

Reddit is a toxic place where everyone has a degree on all-ology. If you express your opinion you are always wrong if people says so, especially if you don't agree with normie things. Could be used for Nofap sub, but isn't worth considering the amount of Pornography and obscen fetish contents you can find on it, so, totally not worth.

Reading this thread, I feel like I'm in much better company here. My "new here" post goes into some detail about my experience on Reddit and quitting it altogether. I haven't had an account, but lurked on reddit the past two years off and on, due to posting my opinion and it meeting downvotes because of "you aren't thinking like the hivemind".

I got tired of the swarm of politicizing and political subreddits popping up everywhere. Every other day another subreddit gets invaded by political influence. I also got tired of the extremely low content level a.k.a all the meme subreddits, tv show reddits that are just meme dumps or in jokes, rage-bait subreddits (i.e. idiotsincars), etc.

I've been reading a book, "You Should Quit Reddit" by Jacob Desforges available here: https://www.amazon.com/Should-Quit-Reddit-Jacob-Desforges-ebook/dp/B0BWLCPQ7G/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3QRB2J5S0D9PS&keywords=You+should+quit+reddit&qid=1706652313&sprefix=you+should+quit+reddi,aps,219&sr=8-1

I'm almost at the halfway point and I've encounted well over half of the things He's said within it but he states it in a much clearer context than I ever could.

Even the subreddits I find slightly useful such as hobby ones, work related (that I have yet to find a single useful answer upon, most of the time I find a post through a search engine and it contains a deleted post with a reply of "that worked, thanks!"... So useful!), and /r/nofap, are still lower quality discussion areas because it just turns into hot takes and jokes, one after another.
