    Hi everyone.
The only nights where I get the urge to masterbate or watch porn are friday and saturday nights. Throughout the week im fine because i get tired after work i guess. Its a recurring pattern on those nights only. Its so annoying. Once i get the urge i feel like i cant do anything about it and that the only way out is to give in. Can someone offer me some helpful advice please?

Hi, according to a study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12367570) hormone levels peak at the weekends. For me I frame those urges as a desire to be with a girl sexually, rather than choosing to call them urges to PMO. This is a subtle difference but if I think its a desire to PMO my tendency is to want to stay indoors on my own with my laptop, if I think of it as a desire for some real sexual experience my desire to go out and be sociable and meet new people increases.

I think over time we teach ourselves that that particular sensation is a desire to PMO, but as PMO isn't natural that desire can only exist in the associations we have made through habitual conditioning. Its like a dog learning to sit in order to get a treat. Break that association and empower yourself with choice, rename the sensation, reframe the situation.

    PMO: porn, masturbation and orgasm
Dopamine is the drug that your brain releases when you stimulate yourself with porn, without porn you have a normal level and normal releases when doing pleasurable activity. When you use porn you get a heightened level of dopamine and consequently a lower relative amount from normal activities, leading to less motivation and pleasure in life (leading to depression) and a desire to dose yourself with dopamine regularly using porn, for a quick fix and momentary pleasure.
When you stop your brain will fight you (and try to trick you/convince you), wanting a fix of dopamine. The lower levels of dopamine with give you wthdrawal symptoms which differ from person to person, but mood swings, irritability, difficulty sleeping and restlessness are typical.
In time your brain will adjust to a more normal level of dopamine and you will generally get more pleasure from every day things, and a healthier sex life - this is the reset we are after.

    hope that helps.
