Hi everyone! I have been addicted to masturbation and pornography since I was 12 and have never been able to shake it off. I am now nearly 18 (male). I have had hundreds of "final" resolutions to quit but have always reverted back to it eventually. I need all the help I can get I hope this site will assist me well in the endeavor to quit permanently in hopes of saving my future relationships and marriage. I have begun to feel hopeless. I can resolve to quit now and I can believe that I won't ever again all I want in the moment, but so far that is no guarantee for the future. There will always be a time in the future where I am not so certain and where I will call to temptation. I want to get help from people that know how to overcome this. How can I ensure that I will choose to abstain when temptation hits again as it surely will. This has stolen my confidence and it has damaged my relationships both with men and with my God. I want to be past this so badly, and I have having no promise of future success.

Hi Kylewhyte42! I can relate a lot. I am coming to terms with not knowing the future. I really only have today. Some moments I feel so zealous about No PMO and I feel like I see a vision of my life so perfect forever. But other moments I realize the truth of my addiction and I've felt that zealous feeling so many times, only to eventually relapse.

I think coming to terms with this is something I have to do in my recovery. Its about bed time here so I just have now until tomorrow morning.

So I can relate to what you said about not knowing the future. If there was a way to cast some magic spell or vow in one moment that would endure the rest of my life I would do it! John Bradshaw said he did a celibacy prayer that lasted him 10 solid years.

Also if I do relapse again I'm prepared not to hate myself as much. That's probably part of the learning process too.Every time I relapse I have a chance to forgive myself sooner and move on sooner, without as much self hate and despair.

  3. Hey @Kylewhyte42,
    Welcome to the NoFap community!
I think something that is really helpful is to write out your motivations for quitting and keep them nearby. Then take them out when temptation hits and remind yourself why you are doing NoFap.
There's a great page on rebooting I suggest you take a look at if you haven't already.
Feel free to message me or anyone else here if you have questions or want to talk.
Best of luck during your reboot.
    Again, Welcome!

    Hi @Kylewhyte42,
It is good to see you here. I believe that you can learn a lot of techniques for stopping this bad habit.
I recommend you to read articles from Success Stories in the forum.
And here is the one I recommend.
Reading success of others really help you understand how others make it and give you confidence to face this challenge.
    Never, Never give up.
No one can do it really well in the beginning. We need time to understand and learn.

    Best Wishes!!
