Question for all! Are men in America more immature then in other countries?

Men are men and women are women. Putting labels on them like "pussies" is just the same to say "that man isn't manly enough, he's not doing the right things society considers manly" It's despicable to think that things aren't going to change. If it's true, im glad men are more politically correct and apologize more.

At least the majority view isn't "I have to eat meat, hunt, like sports, or (dare I say it) go to the gym" in order to be a man. Why can't I just be born a boy and live my life instead of being pushed into gender roles. Being told I am a pussy because I don't kill animals or play sports. Obviously, you think the gender roles should stay the same. I, however, believe it is time for the more intellectual man to be seen as a "man".

When you were born you can not possible tell me you wanted to grow up and be some meat-headed jock who was only good for bullying people and throwing a football. We want to be astronauts, engineers, lawyers, fathers, or doctors, but what it's come down to is if you like to read, write, draw, or be creative in anyway away from societal labels....your considered lower than them.

Your not good enough because you don't play sports. Your not manly enough because your not some asshole who uses women for sex. Fuck society and the labels it tries to cast on me. Be yourself and enjoy life. I stand up for my beliefs when I say No one will ever dictate how I should act!

Dont live by labels. Live by your morals. Your loves. Your life.

The gender divide has never been wider as it is now. Women and men are trying to be a version of men that is held up as the "standard". Neither one are very successful at it. Women are burnt out and men feel insignificant. Girls play with pink toys and boys play with blue and don't dare play together.

As for American men being immature I would somewhat agree. It is a product of a consumerism and capitalistic society. Consume as much as you can, be better than everyone else, conquer and destroy. Women fall into the same pitfalls of being beautiful and buying lots of brand names, makeup and jewellery. Both have a very real sense of entitlement (generally speaking of course). I don't have cable but the odd time I see a commercial it is stunning how much brainwashing goes on. Buy buy buy to be happy.

I'm guessing he means financial independence or the age when most men get married and in either case that has more to do with the economy than any deficiencies in men.

 

If you don't watch porn you are not a men. If you don't treat women like shit and do not have sex like a animal you are not a man. That's what society says. I say you this : If you are man enough than take control of your body and mind . Do not masturbate or watch porn. It takes a man to say no to his own urges and a child to give in to them!

 

In my opinion, Men needs to do 3 things to be a real man. He needs a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue.

A battle you fight is that you fight for your convictions and morals, and do not give them up, even if the opposition calls you certain names. You need a strong foundation to do that, your morals have to stand on rock, because the ever changing wind of the opinion of people will crush you and blow you away otherwise. Evil lurks at every corner, you need to protect yourself. Evil like biased propaganda, harmful addictions, angry people. You can say that you have to have an identity.

The adventure to live stems from your morals. What is the most important thing for me in the world? What is that even more important than me? Otherwise you'll be just egocentric, always obsessed with yourself, like Narcissos from greek mythology, or Lucifer. You can view the adventure as a lifelong commitment to something that is bigger than you. What is it? Think about it as something that you'd like your kids to do too. To carry on your legacy. What will be your legacy? EDIT: This is something that you do with passion.

And the beauty to rescue is obviously fighting for a woman, if you are a man. Woman needs affirmation from men. A little girls first love is her daddy. She asks: "Daddy, daddy, am I beautiful? Am I lovely? Do you like what you see when you look at me? Will you fight for me?" A grown woman asks the same from her man, and a man has to reply. So that the woman will throw away the black cape of insecurity and can truly shine, and unveil her beauty. A woman needs a lover, a warrior, not a really "nice guy".

EDIT: Of course I left something out. Women CANNOT be the adventure. You can't make a life goal out of women. It won't work.

As you can see these things are rather vague, you can fit a lot of stuff into them. But in my point of view, these attributes characterize a real man. He is not a bully, as it violates the second part. Also I have leave out people with same sex attraction, as I honestly have no idea how could they incorporate these ideas, especially the third one.

 

If the question is: "Do Americans (or people of ANY industrialized society) have a sense of entitlement?", then I would say "yes". People in this country (and countless other nations) have become complacent since the Second World War. Technology has made our brains and ours bodies lazy. And our political systems seem to enjoy patronizing our silliness instead of calling us out on it (because they value our vote). Luckily, most on this forum are recognizing what's going on and doing their best to correct it (by getting jobs, having real sexual relationships, and taking greater initiative, in general). But there's still work to be done. There's still many people that need to be educated on the value of a dollar (or pound or Euro or Yuan).

I don't know, in my opinion, a man is an honest, hard working, trust worthy, loyal, faithful, kind, respectful, empathetic, but won't hesitate to rip your throat out if someone tries to fuck with his family type of guy. Also, I don't think you become a real man until you are a father. I don't care how much red meat you eat, how big your biceps are, how much you make a year, what you drive, or how much pussy you can get.

 

I've noticed that men in America are becoming more and more effeminate every decade. You can thank more freedom for women and their involvement in the community. Instead of spanking children, we slap them on the wrist. There are more and more single mothers as well. It's been proven that men who grew up in a single mother household will most likely have a negative outcome, like major depression and other mental illnesses. This is why education is so important in America; something that we're lacking.

Remember when women used to drool over muscular men Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone? Now women are drooling over feminine, metrosexual, homosexual, sensitive, soft-spoken men.

 

I'm not sure about America, but here in England, I've noticed that men may be getting more immature. Especially in men under 35 or so.

For example. Most of the people I hang out with are aged 20-35, and pretty much all have a similar sense of humor. We all still find the same stuff funny as we did when we were 12 or so... However, men of my fathers generation seem to have moved on from immaturity when they left teen-hood.

Its a great topic. Do men grow up after their 30's or are we really getting more immature by the generation?

 

Everyone blames feminism and everyone blames single moms. Yet no one blames fathers or lack thereof for this new generation. Without anyone to mentor a boy how do you get a man?

I also question some of these statistic because they seem to just try and create alarm. For example 60% of women earn bachelor degrees. Does this take into account the fact that a lot of men would rather go into trades and work with their hands? So my guess is that 40% of men earn bachelor degrees and the rest are starting their own businesses or going into trades. Also some of these stats don't just talk about men but women as well. This new generation has very little choice but to live with their parents with their crazy amount of student debt. One thing no one seems to talk about it how Universities have become big money making monsters with no accountability. Undergraduate degrees very rarely get you a job without further education and they cost a LOT. What do you do with an Psych Major and $100,000 in debt? Even Dr's are graduating poor at first, paying off debt for years and years. A friend of mine is a lawyer and she is still paying off her debt living in a crappy apartment. She was asked to become partner but she couldn't afford it! Marriage and kids is the last thing on her mind with her $70K loan.

These are the problems that young people want to escape. No direction, living in a consumer mentality with no money, spending money on high priced education that gets you nowhere. I'd smoke weed and play video games in my moms basement too!

 

Single mothers can be subsidized through the state through welfare, and more men are put in prison due to nonviolent drug possession laws as well as no fault divorce laws.

What you subsidize you get more of, and what you tax you get less of, so, more single mothers, less fathers.

Feminism is a manifestation of the birth control pill, post-modern capitalism, and the welfare system.

Men and women are what we call a feedback loop.

First world nations are getting more of the worst of both.

The indicators of cultural decline currently are not out of the norm for an old empire slipping into the collapse stage.

Effeminate or immature men is a phenomenon that happened in Rome as well.

These things are all cyclic and if it weren't for the coming development of robots as means of productions, the system would completely collapse eventually and the process would start again.

Scarcity promotes male cultural values of hierarchy, domination, individualism, suppression of sexuality, interventionist warfare, etc, while abundance promotes female cultural values of equity, collectivism, open sexuality, peace, etc.

This is the yin and yang of societies. Matriarchy has its dark side like patriarchy and it is assumed that before agriculture most cultures were in fact matriarchal. The reason you see all of the goddess worship from that period and back. With the rise of agriculture came the concept of possession which was dependent upon male violence to retain.

Bonobos and chimpanzees are an amazing real life demonstration of these dual personalities in humanity.

Bonobos everyone fucks and makes peace - matriarchal, chimpanzees everyone kills, rapes, dominates - patriarchal.

They are both different survival strategies for different situations. On one side of the river, the chimps have to defend against predators, on the other side the bonobos do not.

If this system does not collapse under it's own weight, what I think we're looking at is a natural transition to matriarchal values in a post-scarcity society.
