Positive visualization challenge.

Discussion in 'Events & Challenges' started by Deleted Account, Jul 31, 2022.

  1. Welcome to the positive visualization challenge! ;)
    • You can change yourself. The fact is that the brain and the mind are very complex. There is no doubt that humans are conditioned by both external and internal influences so if the individual has no hold of himself/herself then that is a recipe for disaster.
    • Our thoughts influence us more than we think they do and we can choose to have an active participation in our well-being and development or to let the thoughts run wild. I promise you that thinking correctly is as important as acting correctly, therefore I am challenging you to make of positive visualization a habit for the rest of your life.
    • Through positive visualization you can set your brain to be more willing and disposed to accept, welcome and create change in your life. You can use it to communicate with your subconscious and unconscious mind. It is key to set yourself in the correct position to live the way you want to.
    • Don't you ever feel when it comes to your addiction that there is a war going on within yourself, as if two sides within you were fighting over the control of your actions? That is because the part of you that wants to change hasn't propelled change yet. And to do that you don't need to fight a war but to communicate better, and you can communicate through positive visualization!
    • The goal is to visualize yourself achievening your realistic goals. Find a calm place and use your imagination. The clearer and in the more detailed way you can imagine this the better. You can also change the way you view your present, try to be more grateful and positive about the things you are going through, visualize how a difficulty teaches you something and changes you for the best.
    • For example: I know that when I have an urge to watch porn it is useful to wash my hands and face with cold water, to go out and take a walk, and to don't feed on those urges. If I visualize on those actions that I should do to avoid relapsing then I enhance my possibilities of taking those actions when the time comes. The point is to create a story and to train our brains! :)
    • The more you do this the better you will become at it.
Feel free to add your tweaks to the way you personally do this challenge but the most important thing is to do it daily and don't quit. You can also share your visualization if you want to or just let us know how the challenge is going for you. I hope this helps and motivates you to be more positive! I am certain that the forum needs more positivity. This is as important as working out, I hope it can change your life for the better.

  2. Don't know what to visualize? Try the opposite of whatever your are negatively thinking about o_O! Some negative thoughts are important though, they help us to pay attention at something we need to solve, try thinking positively on how you can solve that.

  3. Great! Then you could imagine yourself doing those things, a movie playing in your mind, to accommodate your mind for when you will do those things in reality. The mind makes no distintion from the fictional world and the real world-as porn addiction can testify. Also imagine how you would feel when you succeed at this, I hope that can even lower your fatigue immediately. Good luck.

  4. Today I visualized my day and it is going great so far. Also, I visualized how I would deal with urges: the actions that I would take to lower them down (List of habits and techniques to lower the urges. | NoFap®). For example, I visualized hitting that big red cross on my screen if I ever find myself browsing through websites that are triggering.

  5. Negative emotions are trying to tell us something. We can ignore them (suppression), accept them and let them dominate us, or acknowledge them with love and patience. If I acknowledge a negative emotion I am first of all being respectful with myself (with that part of me that produces such emotion and is trying to tell me something), the next step would be to figure out how that negative experience of negative emotion can be used for learning and positive change. Hopefully then the effect the negative emotion has on me can be diminished or even turned into a positive emotion. Visualize yourself as someone who can live and deal with negative emotions in a healthy way.

  6. Mental exercise is as important as physical exercise.
Time should be spent training the mind as much as it is spent working out.
An untrained mind is unstable, tired, self-destructive, and doesn't works when we most need it. An untrained body is unstable, tired, self-destructive, and doesn't works when we most need it.
I visualize myself training both my mind and my body.

  7. A step-back will have an impact in your life. If that impact is good or bad is up to you. Our brains interpret reality and through imagination we predict possible futures and compare them both with our past and present. We do this guided with our emotions for we are emotional creatures. An untrained mind can tend to have a negative predisposition when dealing with step-backs and it risks viewing things worst than they really are and going into a cycle of negativity that only creates more step-backs.

A step-back can be a reason or excuse for self-hate and self-destruction. Or it can be a reason or excuse for learning, loving and experiencing the gratification that will come when we overcome our step-back.

A relapse/reset can lead down a spiral of dark months or it can be just one bad day, it is truly up to us how we deal with that. Success is around the corner.
