Pornography makes my ADD worse

    Hey, NoFap community.

I just thought I would share some insight on my experience with having ADD and a porn addiction.

My first exposure to pornography was around the third or fourth grade. On a bright, sunny, summer day, my friend and I came across a porn magazine on the edge of our neighbor's trash. Being the inquisitive and troublesome kids we were, we quickly grabbed the magazine and hid behind a house to look at it before disposing of it in the forest next to us.

Shortly after that, I decided to search for "naked women" on the family computer when my parents were out shopping. I came across a porn site and was hooked ever since.

Now, my biggest weakness is an amalgam of impulsivity, and a lack of commitment and motivation. I guess you could say that I'm far from a conscientious individual. This causes me to get addicted to a lot of things, as well as makes it immensely harder to banish any addictions. I often call ADD: the ADD-ictive personality disorder.

I've been grappling with depression ever since I was 13. This has led to me using numerous things to escape, with pornography being among the most detrimental ones. My addiction to video games is just as bad, which is the addiction I plan on quitting after the porn addiction.

I was also never a studious or intelligent kid. I suck at school, and my porn addiction just exacerbates my scholastic performance. I do my best to focus on the task at hand, but the thought of my next fix intrudes upon my thoughts uncontrollably. Not even medication for ADD can fully get rid of the intrusive thoughts.

So, after some introspection, I realized that I need to kick this addiction. I know it's going to be extremely hard; I'm going against my nature after all, but I must do this. I can't keep living with my addictions any longer, and if I succeed, I will post some tips.

I wish everyone else good luck on their endeavors of abstaining from pornography.

    Peace.
