Hey guys, I'm looking for help on my devices. Normally I would just Google this, but it seems no one, (except a recovering porn addict) would ever want to do this.

I am a writer, and as a way to protect myself from relapse, I need a device that I can use a word processing program on, but also have wifi and any ether net connection permanently disabled.

Is anyone familiar with how to do this?

Or can you recommend a device that can be purchased?

    Any suggestions are welcome.

If you are on windows 7 then type in "device manager" in the windows search.
In device manager go to Networks adapter>(if you see something with "Wifi" right click it and select "Properties")
In properties click "Driver" and from there you will see "Inactivate" and "Uninstall". If you want it to permanently disable wifi then click "Uninstall".
    The same goes with Ethernet

Depending on the laptop you might be able to remove the wifi card from the laptop and give it to someone else for 90 days. Not all laptops allow that, though.

I assume you want to go this route to prevent yourself from viewing porn.

Personally, I see this as a rather unrealistic approach to rebooting but then again I don't know you like you know you. Or at all for that matter.

If you want it to be really permanent, you should be able to take it to someone like Microcenter and have them remove the wireless card(unless it is integrated into the motherboard). If you are not a techie, I would just ask someone else to shut it off, that way you don't know how to turn it on. Thus you wouldn't be able to turn it back on no matter how tempted you were.

I have some experience with fixing hardware. And removing the WiFi-Module is a sane option IMHO. I second the opinion not doing it yourself because it would be prudent to not only prevent yourself from getting online but also to prevent yourself from building it back in. So If you have a maintenance friendly laptop I'd advise someone who you know and trust to not only extract but also to keep your card until your desired streak is over. You don't even need to mention nofap just say something like "I need to study really badly and can't afford distraction for the next XX days."

Thank you all. I think I can make the changes needed. To address what karegador said, this is not to simply reboot, I am changing my lifestyle completely. Pornography and sex addiction has ruined my life, I will never go back. So, I don't believe this is unrealistic. But guys, I would urge you to consider the same. We have to get freedom from this, it's destroying our brains...

Instead of permanently removing the wifi, have you considered filtering software such as K9 Web Protection?
