    Some background:

I'm a 30 year old male, who had been utilizing pornography regularly since the age of 10 (usually 5-7 times per week). Still being a virgin, I started a relationship about 3.5 months ago, and immediately starting doing my research after realizing I had a number of sexual dysfunctions (couldn't maintain an erection during oral/vaginal sex, nor come from my partner giving me a handjob.) I came across this wonderful community, and started a 90 day hard mode reboot in earnest, which meant no porn, self masturbation, partner-induced masturbation, orgasm, etc.

Fast forward to yesterday. I was about 93 days into my reboot, and we successfully had sex! It wasn't very long (lasted about a minute), but both my partner and I were thrilled to see the progress that I have made. We tried again later that night and this morning, and weren't able to recreate the experience however.

My question: What I've noticed is that my erections are not hard enough via just foreplay (kissing, touching, etc) to initiate sex. Instead, my partner needs to touch and arouse my penis (with a condom on), to get me erect and then from there, I'm able to attempt sex.

With all this being said, while I am grateful for the progress that I have made, I am still a bit concerned that the means by which I arouse myself for sex still include my partner needing to touch and arouse my penis. During our successful sex attempt, while it felt good, I have to admit that the sensitization of being inside her wasn't as strong as I imagined that it would be.

In any event, I still plan on moving forward in my reboot, which means abstaining from pornography and self-masturbation. Any advice or tips on whether my erections will come more naturally with time? A secondary question is whether or not I should instruct my girlfriend to no longer touch/arouse my penis (which will mean that we likely will not be able to initiate sex for some time) with the hope of a more comprehensive re-sensitization at a later point in time.

By the by - this is my first post on this site. I just wanted to say thank you all for your contributions. While I have a very loving girlfriend, I have to admit that this community kept me going during some of my darkest moments during my reboot. Thanks again.

Hey @Archlynn, well done on your progress so far! Believe or not, you're a success story. Not 100% there yet, but definitely successful!

First, lets start with one possibility - you could have an erectile dysfunction that isn't porn related. You could go to the doctors and get help with that.

HOWEVER, this could be purely porn-induced, let's continue assuming it is. 90 days is an arbitrary value that people aim for (it's actually because its takes 72-90 days for sperm to mature in your testes). You've already seen an improvement, it might just take another 90 days to get all the way there.

I'd cut out handjobs yeah, it's the same stimulation as masturbation and ultimately exacerbates the death grip desensitisation. All other stimulation from your girlfriend is fine though.

Also, as an aside, as I'm sure you'll agree condoms are not great. They an unnatural barrier that if you can do without, do.

Give it more time. I think you’ll also find the refractory period is longer than a few hours because of your PIED; probably more like a few days.
You’re making progress, but progress isn’t always in a straight line.

Speaking of, how long can the refractory period be in general if you have severe PIED? Only a few days or much more than that?

I don’t know how much it varies from person to person. For me results have been better with about a week in between, but I’m also 65, so that has some bearing on it too.

What does it have to do with sperms?
